About the role:
Lead design/projects by identifying best concepts/designs and providing leadership role. Oversee design activity on products and systems to meet Product Development specifications, in compliance with internal and external specifications (ISO, ITA, UL, CEN, etc). Conduct design reviews, checking and approving drawings, Engineering orders (BOM) change, Trial order, Modification order), Technical reports. Develop training process for new engineering teams. Expert in Mechanical design, calculation, manufacturing, and fabrication.
What you will do:
- Lead development of design: Lead and guide design activity on products and systems to meet Product spec, in compliance with internal and external spec (ISO, UL, CEN, etc.).
- Engineering Documentation: Release documentation including Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings (piece part, sub-assembly and assemblies), and engineering orders (EO).
- Prototype Build: Act as lead on all project prototype builds and coordinate functions with Project Manager, Manufacturing, PLM, and EPM. Responsible for DIL documentation, and support communication and resolution of DIL items
- Problem solving: Troubleshoot assembly issues, advising service about field issues and sales about engineering questions.
- Lead interface with other departments: Lead interface manufacturing and Quality Assurance on fabrication, assembly, production and purchasing problems during prototype builds and NPD introduction. Evaluate and oversee implementation of fixes. Provide support to Service Engineering on field truck issues.
- Project Communication: Weekly update project status (EPM), provide answers on the design to Purchasing and suppliers. Communicate with ML on technical design issues and tests results.
When & Where:
40 hour work weeks. Travel on occasion to supplier, affiliate sites, and/or customer locations.
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering – Mechanical
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Practical/Functional electrical, mechanical and hydraulic knowledge
- Team player with good oral and written communication skills
- Project management experience
- Advanced Computer skills: MS Office (Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook)
- Work well under pressure and handle multiple projects at once
- Master Level in Mechanical Design, FEA, Hydraulics, materials, CAD
- Advanced Experience In: Heat Transfer, Testing Methodology, MLA/ML Forklift design and performance standards, MLA/ML DRBFM Process
What would be nice to have:
- Worked on MLA competitive or industry mobile related vehicles
- Working knowledge of ASTM, SAE, CEN and UL standards
- Working knowledge of industry standards including EPA, ISO , ITA, ITSDF, UL, CEN, and JIVA
- Experience with design and testing of electrical components (motors, controllers, display, etc.)

The salary for this position ranges from $140,000 to $160,000 annually. The specific salary for a successful candidate will depend upon, among other legitimate factors, education, training, and/or experience.
