Description: **

The Production Mechanic performs routine maintenance on equipment and determines when and what kind of maintenance is needed. Maintains equipment in a good working condition to keep meeting daily production requirements and communicates with department supervisors and group leaders to determine progress of work and completion dates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Troubleshoots and repairs pneumatic and electromechanical automated assembly machines, to include:
    • Adjusting and repairing of pneumatic valves and air actuators.
    • Checking and troubleshooting electrical circuits.
    • Adjusting and programming vision systems.
    • Troubleshooting and repairing electrical sensors.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on all production equipment using the “LIMBL” program, to include:
    • Cleaning of equipment.
    • Lubricating mechanical parts.
    • Changing air or lube filters.
    • Maintaining welding electrodes.
    • Replacing punches and dies.
    • Replacing miscellaneous parts such as batteries, springs, screws, wear items, etc.
  • Utilizes “LIMBL” program to schedule work orders, report repairs, and manage spare parts and record maintenance, to include:
    • Developing maintenance schedules.
    • Receiving and performing scheduled maintenance.
    • Generating work orders.
    • Inventorying and requisitioning spare parts and other supplies so that stock can be maintained and replenished.
  • Performs machine change overs and setups to include:
    • Changing tooling such as grippers, nests, punches, and dies.
    • Changing out feeder bowls and parts feeders.
    • Changing programming setup.
    • Performing test runs to achieve first good part.
  • Dismantles machines and removes parts for repair using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, and/or hoists.
  • Inspects or tests damaged machine parts and marks defective areas or advises supervisors of repair needs.
  • Sets up and operates machines and adjusts controls to regulate operations.
  • Transports machine parts, tools, equipment, gases and other material between work areas and storage, by using approved devices, such as cranes, fork lifts, hoists, or dollies.
Requirements:

Experience/Skills Required:

• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

• Basic knowledge of electrical wiring.

• Good communication skills and ability to understand verbal and written instruction.

• Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and work over equipment for long periods of time.

• Skill needed to work and handle very small parts (.003 diameter).

• Ability to be team player and work with people of diverse backgrounds.

• Skill needed to work with hand tools and run semi-automated machines.

• Ability to learn and understand dimensions on drawings.

• Basic understanding of computers and demonstrate ability to learn.

• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

• Ability to determine and recognize color coding on instructional charts and product.

• Retention of maintenance and production procedure/processes performed in the past.

• Willingness to train others in processes and best practices.

• None listed.


Preferred Requirements:

• HS Diploma. (or equivalent)

• Mechanical training.

• Bi-lingual in Spanish.

• Previous knowledge or experience with Injection Molding machines.
