Physical Requirements

This position requires occasional lifting, pushing or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds and loading and/or unloading supplies and materials onto carts.

Shift

Primarily Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; some weekends and evening activities may be required as needed.

Job Summary

This position is with the Menifee County Extension Office, which is located at 140 Main Street, Frenchburg, KY. Under the supervision of the County Extension Agent for Family & Consumer Sciences and/or Area Extension Agent for Food and Nutrition, the Nutrition Program Assistant Senior will serve as an educator to youth and families of Menifee County. The goal is to encourage limited resource clients in the community to improve their nutritional statuses and adopt healthy lifestyles. Through recruitment of eligible participants, delivery of nutrition curriculum and evaluation of outcomes, this position serves as an educational resource for the target audience. Additionally, this position will work closely with community leaders as well as NEP state staff to analyze and evaluate best practices and efficiency of programs. The Nutrition Program Assistant Senior will be expected to serve as a mentor to new and current assistants, helping NEP assistants to increase effectiveness in programs as well as achieve various personal and program goals. Overall, the Nutrition Program Assistant Senior should be a well-rounded educator, recruiter, evaluator, and mentor.

Computer – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; excellent written and verbal communication skills; presentation, mentor, nutrition knowledge and collaboration skills. Food preparation skills. Knowledge of community organizations and agencies. Ability to plan, conduct and evaluate educational events. Ability to relate effectively with adults and youth.

Preferred Education/Experience

High School or GED education required. Associates Degree preferred.
University of Kentucky Nutrition Education Program Training.

National Nutrition Certification Program – Tier I preferred

Driver’s License preferred
