Job Summary

The University of Kentucky College of Arts & Sciences is seeking a dynamic student to serve as a part-time Program Assistant for an innovative service-learning program called Step-Up. This interdisciplinary program is designed to support high school students and young adults from migrant and refugee families to navigate the challenges they face in school and help them prepare for post-secondary education. Under this program, UK students (Step-Up Fellows) serve as tutors and mentors in schools and community organizations offering after-school programs for migrant and refugee youth. Supervised by the Director, the Program Assistant will keep track of Step-Up Fellows’ engagement in schools and community organizations, serve as liaison between the program and schools and community organizations hosting Step-Up Fellows, assist in on-campus events associated with the Step-Up program, manage the Step-Up social media platforms, and perform other duties as assigned by the Director to meet program objectives. This is a one-semester position with the possibility of extension, contingent on the availability of funds.



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Currently enrolled as a senior undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Kentucky. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Advanced skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and social media. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Previous experience of working with diverse communities is preferred.
