In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing, integrating, and maintaining project schedules and estimating cost-related documentation for a large portfolio of capital projects. The position ensures schedule accuracy, strengthens estimating and cost control processes, and provides analytical insights to guide project execution and decision making. The role also leverages emerging technologies—including AI driven analytics—to enhance forecasting, improve data quality, and identify opportunities for process optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with scheduling and planning teams to integrate cost data into project schedules and resource allocation plans.
  • Conducts cost audits and reviews to validate project costs and ensure alignment with project scope and contractual requirements.
  • Reviews contractor bids and proposals to ensure compliance with project requirements and cost
  • Competitiveness.
  • Reviews and analyzes claims and change orders and assists with preparation of cost data for engineering procurement and construction contracts.
  • Participates in contract negotiations and procurement activities to secure favorable pricing and terms for materials, equipment, and services.
  • Collaborates with legal counsel and risk management teams to assess and mitigate cost-related risks and liabilities.
  • Identifies and evaluates cost-saving opportunities through alternative project plans, materials, or vendors. Performs complete analysis and cost validations using internal and external benchmarking data, historical indices, and component benchmarking.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in engineering cost controls, estimating, planning, and risk assessment for major construction projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a utility or capital projects environment supporting project controls functions (scheduling, estimating, cost control) and familiar with project controls methodologies.
  • Mentor and guide team members to support development of future project controls professionals.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external contractors to ensure data integrity and alignment.
  • Take initiative to identify and resolve issues or escalate them to Project Managers when needed.
  • Champion the integration of AI and digital tools into project controls processes to streamline workflows, improve data consistency, and enhance decision-making capabilities.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating emerging AI technologies, piloting new capabilities, and developing standards for responsible use of AI in project controls.

Additional Information

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
