Under the direction of the Senior Director of Community Technology, the Community Technology Project Manager is responsible for the effective management of all Community Technology Projects using industry standard and project management best practices. Accomplishes results through cross-functional teams delivering projects on time, within budget and in accordance with approved scope. Coordinates the technology design and delivery process from the development phase through the sale of the community.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the definition of project scope, objectives and deliverables with the input of all relevant stakeholders
  • Works closely with business and technical subject matter to gather requirements as well as identify, evaluate and select feasible solutions
  • Develops the project schedule, secures necessary internal and third party/vendor resources, coordinates project activities, drives results, measures project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Works closely with technical teams to determine technical feasibility and deliver solutions
  • Maintains appropriate controls for scope, schedule, and budget management
  • Manages risk and issues; recommends and implements corrective action and risk mitigation plans; reports and escalates issues to management as necessary
  • Effectively communicates information and impact of change to stakeholders and end-users; prepares and presents project status to management
  • Creates and maintains project documentation including, but not limited to Request for Proposals, Statements of Work, Project Plan, Communication Plans, Project Schedules and Lessons Learned
  • Builds and maintains relationships with team members, internal stakeholders and third party vendors
  • Facilitates stakeholder meetings, technology design, quotes, on site progress and procurement schedule, deployment of team resources, and commissioning of community systems.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
  • Builds and maintains working relationships with team members and other departments involved in the projects
  • Contributes to the development and continuous improvement of project management standards and practices

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher or equivalent experience
  • Proven IT project management experience in the areas of community technology and building systems
  • Multi-family housing industry experience preferred
  • Construction and Engineering industry experience preferred
  • Experience using project scheduling tools (e.g. MS Project or similar products)
  • PMP / PRINCE II certification is a plus

Skills/Specialized Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Community Technology Systems (Access Control, Audio Video Systems, Low Voltage Design, WiFi design, etc.)
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lead with influence, motivate to action and act decisively
  • Detail oriented with strong analysis skills and problem solving ability
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office
