Overview
The principle purpose of the Project Sourcing Specialist at Cambrex Charles City, Inc. is to serve as the liaison between Cambrex and vendors with a goal of sourcing quality products from qualified suppliers, meeting projects timelines while contributing to cost savings initiatives and project margin management.
Responsibilities
- Have a thorough understanding of the Supplier Qualification process and the interactions between other departments and the timing and impact their deliverables makes on overall approval for suppliers and raw materials.
- Regularly compose and analyze Requests for Proposal (RFP) strategically from knowledge of our Supply base in order to meet quick turn-around times for bids and RFQ’s. Evaluate and select vendors based on multiple factors including price, timing and quality.
- Negotiate both price and terms impacting working capital, such as delivery timing, payment terms, and Incoterms. In addition, determine accurate estimated landed cost for evaluation of raw material costing in both bid costing as well as costing for new project raw material pricing.
- Determine cost savings to the site based on Standard cost to purchase price as well as Contract Price to Purchase price.
- Act as the facilitator between CD/AD/PM and supplier when sourcing complex raw materials from suppliers requiring development capabilities.
- With guidance from the Purchasing Manager, contribute to margin management and improvements on assigned projects. Responsible for identifying and communicating differences in bid versus actual price and required quantities.
- Understanding of Procurements annual targets, how your initiatives impact that and how those effect both Run rate and P & L numbers.
- Back up for the Buyer as well as be able to cover basic functions of other Purchasing team members.

Qualifications / Skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills with proven ability to successfully negotiate pricing and terms with vendors.
- Detail oriented, analytical, organized and objective in a fast paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel, Word and SAP systems
Qualifications
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- 4-6 years procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 2-4 years Chemical/ Pharmaceutical and cGMP manufacturing experience preferred.
