Responsibilities

  • Develops and oversees protective services policies and procedures, manages mechanisms to mitigate safety and security risks for coworkers and executives in various settings including SCE service territory, residential areas, events, and all travel; additionally, oversees the executive protection budget, including setting, forecasting, and expenses.
  • Directs and manages the protective services security strategy and business plans, including protection goals and company objectives and metrics for a complex strategic enterprise-based protective services organization.
  • Establishes department strategy direction including recruitment, development, and retention of qualified personnel able to support the department.
  • Ensures security for special events, including planning, training, and operations for the annual shareholder meeting, off-site leadership meetings, ceremonies, and other high-profile gatherings, while monitoring and assessing external security threats and communicating this intelligence to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Oversees the development of personal safety awareness training programs (e.g. situational risk management) for associates, support leadership meetings, and conduct event/travel risk assessments and pre-trip briefings.
  • Manages multiple service level agreements with various domestic and international security providers, to include intelligence, risk management, travel security, and guard force management.
  • Collaborates with various departments (e.g., Cyber Security, Travel, Ethics, Human Resources, and Legal) and maintains strong relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to provide value to SCE employees through training, audits, investigations, consultation, and coordinated responses to security incidents.
  • Develops communications strategy, executive and non-executive security briefings and training programs for leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Manages third party contracts for a variety of technology and physical security vendors who safeguard the physical safety of executives, employees, and visitors.
  • Develops programs and initiatives that enhance SCE’s security profile, including asset management, risk-based initiatives, auditing, compliance, penetration testing, threat metrics management, and communications security.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management.
  • Experience in security and executive protection.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in law enforcement/military/security-related field.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class C California Driver's License.
  • Have a current and active CA BSIS Guard permit and Exposed Firearm Carry permit (or ability to obtain both in the first six months of being hired).
  • Possess a valid California Carry Concealed Weapons (CCW) license or be compliant with the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act of 2004 (“LEOSA”), commonly referred to as HR 218.
  • Successful completion of post-offer cardiovascular fitness and behavioral health evaluations.
  • Ability to perform activities such as:
    • Be able to maintain physical fitness, must pass physical readiness test (Pull-ups, Push-ups, Sit-ups, 800m run).
    • Ability to stand, walk, and run for extended periods.
    • Capability to lift, carry, or drag an average size person.
    • Proficiency in physical fitness exercises and drills.
    • Physical readiness to respond to high-pressure situations, including running, climbing, and carrying injured individuals.
    • Regular fitness assessments to evaluate cardiovascular endurance, strength, agility, and flexibility.
    • Participation in fitness drills and training sessions to ensure continuous improvement and readiness.
    • Proficient in self-defense techniques and commitment to on-going training to maintain those skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
  • Experience working internationally.
  • Knowledgeable about current trends/best practices within the protective services domain.
  • Experience operating a Tax Code 132 compliant protective services program.
  • Protective services experience in the public and private sectors.
  • Have current First Aid, CPR, Protective Services, and Protective Driving certifications.
  • Demonstrated experience with the implementation and management of advanced security technologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint)

Additional Information

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • The primary work location for this position is Rosemead, CA.However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time at (alternate work location).
  • Position will require up to 30% travel and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
