Job Title: Quality and Compliance Officer
Location : Dayton | Scottsdale | Falls Church
Position Type: Full time
Req ID: JR100160
Description:
We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Quality and Compliance Officer to lead the development, maintenance, and publication of company policies and procedures across multiple operational departments. This role is primarily focused on policy writing and governance—ensuring policies are clear, current, adopted by process owners, and effectively implemented across the organization.
The ideal candidate will also bring a solid working understanding of ISO and CMMI and how these frameworks relate to operational controls, documentation, and audit readiness. Rather than serving solely as an auditor, this role emphasizes how compliance with policy is established, communicated, and sustained across departments (e.g., IT, security, HR, operations, project teams). The position requires autonomy, discipline, strong stakeholder communication, and critical thinking, with experience using AI tools in the workplace to improve the quality and efficiency of documentation work.
Primary Focus Areas (Estimated)
- 70% — Policy Governance & Policy Writing
- Drafting, editing, publishing, maintaining, and improving company policies/procedures
- Coordinating reviews/approvals, version control, and periodic policy refresh cycles
- Driving adoption and implementation with operational departments
- 30% — Compliance Support & Audit Readiness (ISO/CMMI)
- Aligning policies and supporting documentation to ISO/CMMI expectations
- Supporting evidence organization, documentation readiness, and continuous improvement activities
Responsibilities:
- Own the end-to-end policy lifecycle: draft, write, edit, format, publish, and maintain company policies and procedures, including version control and periodic reviews
- Partner with department leads and process owners to collect inputs, clarify responsibilities, and ensure policies reflect how work is actually performed
- Drive policy compliance and adoption by coordinating approvals, communicating updates, and supporting implementation across operational departments
- Translate compliance requirements into practical, usable policies that align to business needs and applicable frameworks (including ISO and CMMI)
- Develop and maintain supporting documentation (e.g., standards, procedures, templates, guidance) to enable consistent execution of policies
- Support ISO/CMMI-related audit readiness by ensuring policy documentation and evidence expectations are well-organized and aligned to requirements
- Apply critical thinking to identify gaps, risks, and inconsistencies; recommend improvements and corrective actions
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at multiple levels; track action items and follow through to closure
- Leverage AI tools appropriately to support drafting, editing, summarization, and process/document optimization (in alignment with company guidelines)
Qualifications:
- 1–3 years experience supporting ISO and/or CMMI programs (audit readiness, documentation, QA/process improvement, or compliance support)
- 2-5 years policy and process governance, compliance documentation, or quality management strongly preferred
- ISO/CMMI certifications are a plus; training can be provided for the right candidate
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
Required Skill Sets
- Strong experience in professional writing, editing, and document control—especially policy and procedure writing (2-5 years)
- Working knowledge/experience with organizational policy compliance (how policies are implemented, monitored, and reinforced across departments) (2+ years)
- Experience supporting or working within ISO and/or CMMI environments (audit readiness, documentation, quality processes, or process improvement) (1-3 years)
- Ability to work autonomously with a high degree of discipline, prioritization, and attention to detail
- Strong stakeholder communication skills: gather requirements, resolve ambiguity, and drive timely reviews/approvals
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to evaluate processes and recommend practical improvements
- Experience utilizing AI in the workplace to improve efficiency and quality of written deliverables (e.g., drafting, rewriting, summarizing, formatting)
- Proficiency with office suite tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); comfort working in collaborative document environments
