Description
Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Quality Engineer to work in the Engineering Directorate of the Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC). Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex with every Friday off.
You will report to the MFC Quality Manager. You will Develop and implement nuclear quality assurance procedures, technical methods, control systems, protocols, and procedures to ensure quality standards are in place and product quality is achieved in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct quality program reviews for applicable activities to assure adequate quality requirements are identified and incorporated.
- Establish protocols for inspection plans based on design documentation.
- Participate in Design reviews and provide technical expertise, assistance, and advice to programs based on codes standards and design information.
- Provide solutions to resolve facility, program, or project compliance issues.
- Review and approve quality-related procurement documents to ensure implementation of requirements.
- Provide Quality Program expertise to assist assigned facility personnel in the development of new quality concepts for new structure, system, and component (SSC) design, development, procurement, and installation.
- Conduct Quality assessments and surveillance activities to identify weaknesses and potential safety, quality, and efficiency improvements.
- Provide input to subject matter experts and functional area managers to promote continuous improvement in INL Quality and related processes.
- Actively interface cross-organizationally to ensure alignment for assigned projects.
- Coach/mentor facility personnel through the application of subject matter expertise in the quality requirements for activities affecting quality in DOE Nuclear Facilities and Non-nuclear Facilities as identified by the Quality Assurance Plan.
- Maintain complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, and practices required for delivering quality products and tools.
- Maintain required training and proficiency per training plan.
- Author and implement commercial grade dedication (CGD) plans under the direction of the facility CGD SME.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Level 3: Bachelor of Science degree in technical field related to Quality (Chemistry, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics) with (5) years of relevant experience or master’s degree and 2 years of relative experience.
- Level 4: Bachelor of Science degree in technical field related to Quality (Chemistry, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics) with (9) years of relevant experience or master’s degree and 6 years of relative experience.
- Relevant experience commensurate with level in a Quality affect field (engineering, operations, manufacturing, etc.).
- Must be able to obtain BEA Quality Engineer certification.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Preferred Education, Skills, Experience:
- A minimum of (1) year nuclear experience.
- Experience in commercial grade dedication.
Job Information:
- The pay range for this position is: Level 3 ($77,628- $159,228) / Level 4 ($93,204 - $191,076). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
- TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
- Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, and work in an office and field/laboratory environment. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment and the ability to drive vehicles. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with others is required.
