Responsibilities
The Document and Specification Quality Engineer ensures that documents, drawings, and specifications comply with company, customer, and regulatory quality standards. This role maintains control of technical documentation and supports engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams by reviewing and validating documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with aerospace quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Read, Review, Cross Reference, and Approve Customer drawings, specifications, and related documents to ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards (AS9100, ISO 9001, customer-specific requirements).
- Primary point on contact between Customers and HES Sites on Customer Specs.
- Processing BU documentation, ensuring it is routed for approval; released, and communicated upon release.
- Maintaining industry standards, routing for review/approval; ensuring subscription fees are paid.
- Maintaining Purchase Orders for Industry specs, Subscriptions, Translations fees, as needed.
- Interface for PPM (parts per million)
- Participate in 2nd Party audits as needed.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, or a related technical field required.
- 3 years of experience in quality engineering, document control, or configuration management—preferably in the aerospace or defense industry.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of AS9100/ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Familiarity with aerospace specifications (e.g., MIL, AMS, ASTM) and engineering documentation standards (e.g., GD&T, drawing revision control).
- Experience with document control or configuration management systems (e.g., Windchill, Teamcenter, SmarTeam, SharePoint).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality tools such as FMEA, 8D, or root cause analysis.
- Certification in Quality Engineering (CQE) or Configuration Management (CMII) preferred.
- Experience working with NADCAP, FAA, or DoD requirements.
- Knowledge of digital document workflows and PLM system integration.
