Position Summary:
The Assembly Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of machines produced on the assembly line. This role focuses on identifying and resolving quality issues, improving assembly processes, and ensuring compliance with internal standards and customer expectations. The engineer will work closely with production, design, and supplier teams to drive continuous improvement and deliver high-performance products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and improve quality performance on the skid steer assembly line.
- Investigate and resolve assembly-related quality issues using root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
- Develop and implement inspection plans, quality checkpoints, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineering to ensure manufacturability and quality in new product introductions.
- Support first article inspections (FAI), process audits, and final product audits.
- Analyze defect data and trends to identify systemic issues and drive improvement initiatives.
- Train assembly personnel on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Maintain documentation and records in accordance with ISO 9001 and JCB quality management systems.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to support lean manufacturing and Six Sigma projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing or assembly environment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and assembly processes.
- Experience with quality tools such as 8D, FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis.
- Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and using measurement tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
