Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Infusion Center provides safe, high-quality nursing care to patients receiving intravenous (IV) therapies, including biologics, chemotherapy, hydration, blood products, and specialty medications. The RN is responsible for patient assessment, medication administration, monitoring for adverse reactions, patient education, and coordination of care in an outpatient infusion setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Perform comprehensive nursing assessments before, during, and after infusion treatments
* Administer IV medications, biologics, chemotherapy, hydration, and other infusion therapies per provider orders and established protocols
* Initiate, monitor, and maintain peripheral IVs, central lines, PICC lines, and implanted ports
* Monitor patients for infusion-related reactions and adverse events; respond promptly to emergencies following clinical protocols
* Accurately document patient care, medication administration, assessments, and outcomes in the electronic health record (EHR)
* Educate patients and families on infusion therapies, potential side effects, and post-treatment care
* Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe and effective treatment plans
* Maintain compliance with infection control standards, medication safety policies, and regulatory requirements
* Prepare and maintain infusion equipment and supplies; ensure proper storage and handling of medications
* Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education related to infusion therapy
* Provide emotional support and compassionate care to patients throughout treatment
Qualifications
EDUCATION/LICENSE:
EXPERIENCE: Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, blood borne pathogens, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury.
Some departments require the ability to distinguish colors.

Qualifications

- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
- Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey or current multi state license required.
- BLS required.
