Job Summary

Support therapists and therapist assistants in the treatment of inpatients and outpatients. Assists secretaries and the department staff in performing administrative support and general office duties. Possess appropriate education, experience, and training to assure competency as delineated in the “Age Specific Competence Assessment”. Responsible for the safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. Provides material supply services for a variety of departments as required.

Essential Functions

  • Performs administrative and receptionist functions including screening calls and visitors, messages, scheduling appointments, registering patients, and collecting appropriate personal and financial data. Transports patients via wheelchair, stretcher or bed to designated sites as requested, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, monitors and other equipment.
  • Transports patient to/from rehabilitation department.
  • Performs minor dressing changes under the direction of a physical therapists and/or physical therapy assistant.
  • Communicates pertinent clinical information to the licensed therapist (PT, OT, ST or therapist assistant) responsible for the patient.
  • Assists director, clinical coordinator, and his/her designates in activities and initiatives that will enable department and hospital to meet its goals and objectives.
  • Participates in the hospitals and department’s CQI activities; assists in developing and maintaining compliance with standards established by accrediting agencies.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role (preferred)

Licenses/Certification

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Preferred

Experience

  • Previous experience in patient care - Preferred
