Rental Sales Manager

Poughkeepsie, NY – Bloomingburg, NY – Bronx, NY – Newington, CT – Holtsville, NY – Medford, NY

Pay:$110,000 - $125,000/year(dependent on relevant experience)

Bonus: 25% bonus potential

Key Qualifications:

  • 2 years’ experience in rental sales or equipment-related industry required
  • Sales Management experience highly preferred 
  • Ability to travel up to 85% of the time (between the rental branches)
  • Excellent communication, (both written & oral), organization, and problem-solving skills
  • High proficiency level with computer systems, specifically PowerPoint, Excel and CRM
  • Excellent customer service skills 
  • A desire to mentor and support others 
  • Ability to negotiate and close deals
  • Clean & valid driver’s license required 

Responsibilities: 

Successfully provide leadership and management of dealership and alliance rental sales and allied equipment sales operations.

  • Plan, direct and coordinate rental sales operations, ensuring safety, productivity, customer satisfaction and profitability.
  • Drive rental sales and sales of allied equipment through H. O. Penn and its alliances to help achieve targeted revenue and utilization goals.
  • Create a results-oriented atmosphere that insures budgeted financial goals, (volume, profit, PADE) are achieved.
  • Direct rental sales staff to maximize coverage and efficiency.
  • Assist rental sales reps as needed with collections efforts.

Effectively manage rental sales force to ensure a high level of coverage and customer satisfaction.

  • Develop an effective and motivated sales team to represent our full offering and achieve targeted results.
  • Assist rental sales reps with territory planning and relationship building to ensure strong coverage of key accounts in the market.
  • Drive growth of new accounts and reinvigoration of inactive and dormant accounts throughout the territory to increase our market share.
  • Drive effective usage of our CRM to help manage sales reps’ activities, customer data, and ensure adequate coverage of assigned customer base.

Assist Rental Management Team in goal setting and fleet planning.

  • Monitor territory construction activity and assist the Rental Management Team in setting revenue, market share and fleet level targets.
  • Continually monitor and assess market opportunities and adjust coverage and inventory strategy as needed.
  • Monitor lost rents and provide recommendations for rate and fleet mix adjustments.

Staff and develop people to achieve all key results.

  • Build and maintain an environment characterized by safe work practices, high productivity and morale.
  • Ensure all employees complete assigned training in a timely manner.
  • Develop people by effectively managing the performance process (goal setting, coaching, appraisal and rewards/consequence management).
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels to suit market conditions.

Ensure a culture of safety at the branch.

  • Consistently communicate and reinforce safe work habits
  • Work closely with safety manager and risk manager to ensure a safe work environment for all, OSHA compliance and DOT compliance.
