The Buckingham Retirement Solutions Advisor position offers a unique opportunity to help grow the retirement solutions platform for the larger community of advisors. This offering has been created as an enhanced 401(k) service to meet the needs and exceed the expectations of our advisor community.  The Retirement Solutions Advisor coaches and supports advisors in their pursuit and service of 401(k) business and is responsible for managing the overall relationship with assigned advisory firms. 

We are open to local St. Louis candidates offering a hybrid working schedule or remote candidates who reside outside of the St. Louis area.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Coaching and Consultation

  • Coaches on marketing, communicating our value proposition, and closing new business 
  • Coaches on how to best serve their retirement plan clients, including how to conduct a plan review with trustees and how to educate plan participants effectively
  • Provides sales support which may include site visits, co-presenting and joint calls
  • Offers guidance on plan specific pricing, benchmarking, and service provider selection
  • Ensures timely responses are received to questions and requests for materials or information

Practice Management

  • Assists in the creation and implementation of business plans for advisor’s retirement plan business and offers consulting on practice management
  • Updates advisors on 401(k) best practices, industry trends and current regulations
  • Collaborates with RS Director and RS Ops and Support team to best assist advisors 
  • Occasional travel to visit advisors

Platform Development

  • Assist with projects contributing to website and platform development
  • Relationship management of partners (recordkeepers, data aggregators, plan tool providers, technology providers)
  • Develops strong knowledge of preferred recordkeeper offerings
  • Recommends new processes that will evolve the offering or enhance the client experience
  • Attend industry events to stay on the cutting edge of industry trends
  • Creates materials and content for periodic webcasts and newsletters

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • Minimum 10 years of retirement plan industry experience required
  • QKA, CRPS, CPFA, QPA, AIF or other designation demonstrating industry expertise preferred 
  • Series 65 or equivalent
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • Strong ability to anticipate, meet and exceed client needs
  • Team player – must strive to be a collaborative, valued member of the team 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional problem resolution skills
  • Adapts quickly to change
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Buckingham’s Compensation and Benefits

This is a salaried position with an opportunity for an annual bonus and long-term incentives as well as a competitive benefits package and potential to purchase firm equity.
