Job Summary
- Plans and administers professional nursing care to patients in the recovery room/post-anesthesia care unit
Essential Functions
- Cares for surgical patients as they recover from anesthesia
- Monitors vital signs, such as heart or respiratory rate, blood pressure, or oxygen level
- Comforts patients as they wake; may be required to gently restrain patients
- Checks surgical site for excessive bleeding or swelling
- Monitors, documents, and communicates care given, patient's status and reactions to interventions
- Educates patients on care for the surgical wound or other post-discharge care
- Performs work under minimal supervision
- Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff

Qualifications
Education
- Graduation from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Associate Degree in Nursing, or Nursing Diploma program
Licenses/Certifications
- Current state licensure as Registered Nurse in the state of practice
- BCLS certification required
- ACLS certification as required by facility of practice
Experience
- Minimum 1 year nursing experience
