Overview
Multnomah County’s Department of Community Services’ Transportation division has an amazing opportunity for you to work as a Seasonal Laborer to assist our bridge and road crews with maintenance of County bridges and roads.
Bridge Maintenance
As a Seasonal Laborer in Bridge Maintenance, you will help with vegetation maintenance, landscaping, and graffiti removal. You will occasionally set up work zones for the bridge crews during projects. You may also learn and perform semi-skilled duties with minor bridge repairs, such as greasing bridge components, operating power washers and paint sprayers, assisting with patching concrete repairs, fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) deck repairs, installing and repairing joint seals, and applying cold thermoplastics on bridge roadways and sidewalks.
Bridges Schedule:Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (8-hour days)
Work Location:1403 SE Water Avenue, Portland, OR 97214 (and additional bridge structure locations depending on assignment)
Road Maintenance
As a Seasonal Laborer in Road Maintenance, you will help with vegetation maintenance, piloting motor vehicles for various county operations, assist with road sign installation, possible work zone set up and flagging.
Roads Schedule:Monday - Thursday, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM (10-hour days)

Multnomah County’s Transportation division manages and preserves the county road infrastructure and provides a safe and efficient transportation system that supports economic and community vitality. With over 297 miles of roads and six bridges over the Willamette River, among many other bridges, to manage and maintain, our staff is committed to maintaining the community’s livability. Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED); AND
