Security Guard - Campus Safety Division

About the Opportunity
Working in direct support of the University Police Department, you will help ensure the security of all campus buildings and residential housing facilities. This position provides an excellent opportunity to serve the Lehigh community while developing valuable skills in security operations and emergency response.

This position is a Grade: 6 - 40 with an approximate salary range of $34,400-$41,290 and is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Acts as a primary responder for various campus emergencies, including medical, criminal, fire, and behavioral incidents while managing physical security alarms and assisting police.
- Enhances community safety and accessibility by providing lock-out assistance, vehicle jump-starts, walking escorts, and conducting regular inspections of emergency phones and AEDs.
- Ensures operational integrity by maintaining detailed safety activity reports and strictly adhering to all university and departmental protocols.
- Provides 24/7 surveillance across all campus areas and weather conditions to secure buildings, manage crowds at events, and identify potential maintenance or safety hazards.
- Monitors residence halls and Greek housing to ensure compliance with university regulations and manages access control by locking or unlocking facilities for scheduled events.
- First responder for all types of campus emergencies and may administer emergency medical assistance.
- Actively fosters rapport with students, staff, and visitors through community policing initiatives, crime prevention programs, and consistent professional networking while on duty.
- Delivers high-quality customer service by treating every individual with dignity and respect, ensuring a positive and inclusive environment regardless of the circumstances.
- Maintains a professional appearance, ensures all issued equipment is functional, and arrives on time and fully prepared to work independently.
- Responsible for the timely and professional recording of all incident reports, ensuring all documentation is completed on the same day the event occurs.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Basic computer skills for incident reporting and security systems

- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure
