Description:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and supporting timely, compliant financial reporting. This role plays a key part in the monthly close process, account reconciliations, and financial analysis, while managing fixed assets and supporting audit, tax, and regulatory requirements. The Senior Accountant partners with internal stakeholders and corporate teams to ensure adherence to accounting standards, strengthen internal controls, and provide reliable financial information to support business decision-making.
Responsibilities
· Ensure timely, reliable month-end closing of the general ledger, including preparation of journal entries, balance sheet and income statement analysis and uploading ledgers into ERP System
· Perform analysis of results, reviewing for reasonableness, and make departmental inquiries where necessary.
· Assist with monthly financial statements and internal management reporting.
· Support Canadian office with monthly balance sheet and income statement review, reconciliations, government filings, inter-company transactions, and uploading ledger into ERP System.
· Record, track, and prepare the monthly reporting and highlight spending on capital expenditures.
· Manage fixed assets, accumulated depreciation, and depreciation expense accounts. Prepare monthly reconciliation; reconcile gain/loss on asset and record disposals.
· Understand and be responsible for fixed asset software
· Prepare year-end audit schedules and tax schedules, be a resource to Corporate headquarters regarding specific questions on fixed assets.
· Prepare, record, and reconcile personal property and real estate tax returns. File returns on a timely basis.
· Prepare monthly payroll bank reconciliations on a timely basis. Keep records up to date and report/ investigate unusual items.
· Perform special projects, as required, to assist the department and the Company in achieving its goals and objectives

Preferred Qualifications:
Education:
· A Bachelor's degree in accounting, CPA preferred
Experience and/or Training:
· 2-5 years' experience in public accounting, or general accounting function
· Knowledge of general ledger, internal controls, and US GAAP requirements
· Strong problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to communicate and present information accurately and succinctly.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Self-motivated and proactive, both with respect to managing workload and own professional development—strong work ethic.
· Able to adjust to changing priorities—ability to prioritize work, problem solve and meet deadlines.
· Ability to function well independently as well as in a team-oriented environment
· Proficiency in the use of ERP systems. Experience with Oracle and HFM is preferred.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Only those present in a normal office setting, no known significant hazards. In the course of working with a wide range of people, may encounter abusive, aggressive, or unpredictable behavior on a limited basis. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Occasional trips to manufacturing areas will be required, and occasional travel for company business is also required.
