Rate of Pay: $85,000 - $130,000

Purpose:

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the organization’s financial records. This position is responsible for complex accounting activities, month‑end close, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations. The Senior Accountant also supports process improvements and provides guidance to junior accounting staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive month‑end and year‑end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Reconcile complex accounts, including bank accounts, intercompany transactions, fixed assets, and prepaid/deferral schedules.
  • Prepare customer invoices and manage collection efforts for these customers.
  • Assist with the preparation and management of weekly cash flow forecasts.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting by providing financial insights and historical analysis.
  • Assist with audits (internal and external) by preparing schedules, documentation, and explanations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams such as FP&A, operations, and payroll to resolve issues and improve financial workflows.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a corporate or public accounting environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in GAAP, financial reporting, and general ledger management.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and reporting systems such as Deltek Costpoint and Cognos.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and professionally.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy

  • Hybrid role working in Annapolis office 3 days per week (Monday – Wednesday) 2 days from home.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related discipline

The pay range reflects the expected base salary for this position. Final compensation will be based on role, level, skills, experience, and geographic location.
