Global Network Services
Global Network Services (GNS) is responsible for the card issuing and merchant acquiring partnerships that comprise the American Express Network. GNS operates in 110 geographies and GNS partners issue over 60 million cards on the Amex Network. GNS North America is focused on growing issuing partnerships that drive complementary scale and relevance for American Express in the US and Canada. The GNS N.A. team manages a portfolio of existing bank partnerships (e.g., Credit One, Navy Fed, USAA), cobrand programs (e.g., Coinbase, Square, Rakuten, NASCAR, Macy's), and other issuing ecosystem and enabling partnerships.
Business Development
The GNS N.A. New Business Development team is responsible for signing new issuing partnerships with banks, brands, and technology providers interested in launching card programs on the American Express Network. The New Business Development team has end-to-end responsibility for new partnerships including strategy, pipeline, prioritization, pitches, contracting, and process/diligence. The Analyst for our Agile Partner Platform will be responsible for supporting new business development activities with a focus on new cobrand programs, particularly in the fintech space. This person will partner closely with the Director of New Business Development and GNS NA leadership team to cultivate and prioritize a robust new business pipeline, develop winning strategies to secure new partnerships, refine compelling prospect pitches and efficiently manage contracting and diligence with prospects and partners. A successful candidate will have a strong will to win, be an effective listener and communicator, have the drive to establish and grow numerous internal and external relationships, be genuinely curious about our business, and that of our partners/prospects, and always uphold the Blue Box values.
How will you make an impact in this role?
- Serve as subject-matter-expert in the evolving card issuing landscape, with a focus on identifying trends and prospects of importance to the New Business team
- Identify opportunities and cultivate a robust new business pipeline across cobrands & enabling partners
- Drive pipeline updates & prioritization through prospect assessment and consistent alignment with GNS NA leadership team
- Develop winning strategies to secure new partnerships through research, creative product ideation, and relationship building
- Refine compelling prospect pitches by crafting a great first draft, and thoughtfully iterating and preparing with key stakeholders
- Oversee administrative activities, supplier relations (SOW creation, invoicing) and PRSA/risk processes for the GNS NA New Business team
- Manage SOP process for engaging, documenting, and reviewing prospects from initial diligence checks to final review and approval
Minimum Qualifications
- Highly motivated self-starter who is eager to dive in and independently support winning strategies that meet defined objectives
- An effective listener and communicator – you listen carefully, ask probing questions, and speak clearly with conviction
- A genuine curiosity about the Network business and the various industries and business models in which our partners and prospects operate
- Ability to balance multiple competing priorities that require engaging numerous internal and external stakeholders
- Comfortable driving initiatives forward without perfect information or an established process
- Strong personal & professional presence, with the ability to interact with and influence colleagues & cross-functional partners at various levels of the organization
- Exceptional communication skills across e-mail, Word, & PowerPoint
- Undergraduate degree and 2 years of work experience with at least 1 year within payments, financial services, fintech or related space required
Preferred Qualifications
- A passion for payments, the evolving credit card landscape, financial services innovation, and partnerships
- Understanding of credit card landscape, economics, and value proposition is a bonus
Salary Range: $65,500.00 to $102,500.00 annually + bonus + benefits
