Job Summary
Serve as a strategic partner for the Chief Advancement Officer. Oversee creation and development of business processes in support of Gies advancement and its strategic goals. Manages the Senior Associate Director of Constituent Engagement and develops broad annual giving strategy. Manages the senior data specialist and evaluates data to support advancement functions. In collaboration with stewardship continually evaluates funds to support the college's ability to spend gift dollars.Duties & Responsibilities
- In partnership with the Associate Dean of Advancement, develop plans, processes, and communications and systems in support of the Gies College of Business that encourage integration and success of all areas of advancement – stewardship, alumni communication, major and corporate gifts, annual funds, alumni engagement, and events as well as supporting business and administrative services.
- Provide strategic leadership for alumni communication in support of the mission of the College. Assist the College, its departments, and units in implementing, building and maintaining broad alumni communication that involves significant numbers of alumni. Has broad oversight for annual giving efforts within the college. Have supervisory oversight of the Senior Associate Director of Constituent Engagement.
- Provide strategic leadership for stewardship in support of the mission of the College.
Assist the College, its departments, and units in implementing, building and maintaining stewardship activities, including acknowledgments, donors events, and stewardship of individual major and principal gift donors and corporations.
Have supervisory oversight of the Director of Stewardship. - In partnership with the Associate Dean of Advancement, develop plans and strategies around the integration
of data across all advancement areas, with an emphasis on increasing number of donors to the college, building
donor pipeline and annual revenue to the college. Further collaborate with the associate dean on the use
of data to inform and strengthen campaign planning. Have supervisory oversight of the Senior Data Specialist. - Support advancement human resource functions and assist with drafting of position descriptions. Coordinate training and onboarding as needed for new advancement operations staff. Partner with CAO on business process, including budget management, reimbursements, purchasing orders.
- In collaboration with Gies Stewardship and Gies Business Office, regularly review fund criteria and flexibility of use. Work with the CAO and UIF to develop plans for modifying agreements with donors when needed.
- Coordinate tactics for execution of key priorities for the Office of Advancement strategic plan, positively impacting the effectiveness of the college’s advancement efforts. Track progress towards annual goals. Create and document efficient, timely business processes.
- Manage special projects as requested by CAO. Liaison with college, campus, university, and foundation offices on behalf of Gies Business advancement. Travel as needed for advancement activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree. Minimum of seven years of advancement or closely related experience. Broad knowledge of the principles and practices of development and alumni engagement, including comprehensive fundraising campaigns. Prior supervisory experience.

Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communications skills. Experience working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Ability to work in a professional and collegial manner with staff across the college and campus. Demonstrated project management skills.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the search closes. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications andexperience, while also considering internal equity. The budgeted salary rangefor the position is $125,000 to $140,000. Hybrid work options may be available for thisposition, with the ability to be on-site as needed. Sponsorship for work authorization is not availablefor this position.
