We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Senior Director Collision to join our team. As the Senior Director Collision, your excellent communication and follow-up skills will help you develop business through relationships within the AutoNation corporate structure, insurance companies, dealership contacts, key industry partners, and other sources to ensure the sales volume meets operating profit targets.

You’ll showcase your leadership skills as you supervise and mentor your team, guiding them through professional development and ensuring a high level of engagement. You demonstrate a keen eye for detail as you ensure the standard operating procedures, expense controls and financial performance for the shops are being met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for all collision repair centers, ensuring alignment with the company’s mission and business objectives.
  • Lead expansion efforts, including evaluating new locations, and managing acquisitions or build-outs.
  • Drive organic growth of the collision business.
  • Develop and implement operational plans to drive efficiency, quality, and profitability across all locations.
  • Monitor KPIs such as cycle time, gross profit margins, customer satisfaction, and employee productivity; implement improvements where needed.
  • Prepare and /or administer an annual operating budget for the Collision business unit.
  • Understand, keep abreast of and comply with federal, state and local regulations that affect Collision Center operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, safety inspections, OSHA guidelines, Associate safety programs, and EPA air quality standards.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales to drive customer acquisition and retention.
  • Drive process in scheduling, managing work in process, estimates and completed repair orders for accuracy and quality.
  • Create and/or maintain Collision Center pay plans for technicians (wage grid), estimators, concierge, directors and managers.
  • Establish and/or maintain good working relationships with AutoNation dealerships, and insurance companies to encourage repeat business and referrals.
  • Maintain/manage/add DRP accounts; communicate changes/status updates to Market Leadership.
  • Ensure proper business operational documentation and customer repair files are handled in a consistent manner with company policy.
  • Accountable for compliance with all Collision initiatives.
  • Partner with the stores and financial teams to maintain financial accounts related to Collision Center operations (AR/open RO list/PO schedule) to ensure compliance with accounting guidelines.
  • Ensure closed ROs reflect work performed and are compliant with AutoNation rules on revenue recognition.
  • Ensure the collision center’s parts and supply inventory is maintained by AutoNation Parts reconciliation standards.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, bachelor’s degree in business or related field of study preferred, or any equivalent combination of background, skills and relevant experience
  • Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in a large automotive retail environment leading and developing a team.
  • Extensive knowledge of retail collision operations, parts operations and vendor support.
  • Demonstrated experience dealing with challenges and issues confronting a large, diverse organization and work across organizational boundaries to drive change across multi-site operations.
  • Proven ability to be an effective leader for a team with the ability to interact effectively with various agencies, suppliers and business stakeholders.
  • Proven track record and experience in developing large scale initiatives, as well as successfully executing programs that meet the objectives of excellence in a dynamic business environment.
  • Able to lead, influence, collaborate and communicate effectively with executives and associates at all levels within the organization.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, negotiation skills along with excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Strong command of CCC1, MS Office Suite with a focus on Word, Excel and Outlook.
