As a Senior Engineer supporting Global Real Estate, you will develop solutions that leverage best-in-class vendor products and services to deliver reliable, flexible, scalable, and sustainable digital solutions to optimize the utilization of Amex workspaces and enhance the colleague’s experience.

You will also have a sharp eye when it comes to Information Security and Platform Health to ensure all our products and services are secure and compliant within the ever-changing security landscape.
As a part of our technical team, you will work to bring ground-breaking and diverse ideas to life that power the digital systems, services, products, and platforms that Amex depends on.
You will do this by:
- Creating seamless integrations between vendor applications and the Amex environment by developing RESTful APIs, secure file transfer, and identity and access management platforms
- Collaborating with product owners, delivery managers, vendors, engineers, and architects to resolve complex technical problems and create solutions for the Global Real Estate portfolio.
- Maintaining the Platform Health of portfolio through vulnerability remediation, CMDB validation and maintenance, threat modeling, and ensuring resiliency
Responsibilities:
- Function as the technical leader on an Agile team, leading technical development of complex, enterprise-grade solutions through consistent engineering practices (usage of enterprise tools, reusable components, and technical documentation)
- Develop deep understanding of Global Real Estate application logic, middleware, backend technologies, and dependencies within the context of a hybrid environment (SaaS and on-prem)
- Lead development of technical solutions including design, coding, deployment, monitoring, and support
- Ensure alignment to technology strategy, standards, architecture, and tools/methods
- Effectively communicate with technical and non-technical peers, and product partners to gather requirements and communicate solutions.
- Demonstrate strong leadership in developing and resolving technical issues
- Accountability for platform health including system performance, platform availability, vulnerability remediation, standards alignment, information security, and data management.
Leadership:
- Drive the team’s technical strategy and roadmap through thought leadership and deep understanding of enterprise technology roadmap
- Mentor and guide team members for success; identify strengths and areas for growth; and hold team accountable to technology standards
- Influence team members by challenging status quo, demonstrating risk taking, and implementing creative ideas
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of software development experience in a professional environment or comparable experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer science engineering, or related experience
- Hands-on experience with Java/J2EE, RESTful API development, file-based integration development, and Microservices
- Working knowledge and practical experience with RDBMS datasets
- Proven ability to solve technical problems and the ability to influence others
- Experience leading teams of engineers
- Familiar with Agile or other rapid application development methods
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and timelines with independent judgement
Preferred Qualifications
- Have worked on complex system integrations with SaaS and on-prem platforms
- Are experienced with Java, functional programming, asynchronous programming, the concepts of clean code
- Have expertise with Spring, React, relational and non-relational databases, cloud platforms and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience in Workplace Experience platforms or Integrated Workplace Management Systems is a plus
- Enjoy automating systems, improving reliability, and challenging processes with the goal of continuous improvement
Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
