Job Description:
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Leveraged Finance Trader to join the high performing and growing CLO team, based in London. The ideal candidate will be responsible for trading bank loans and high yield, providing insights on markets, strategizing on liquidity and execution, and have a deep understanding of collateralized loan obligations (CLOs). This role requires expertise of loan market dynamics, strong analytical skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with portfolio managers, analysts, counterparties, and other stakeholders.
The Value You Deliver
- Execution capabilities within bank loans and high yield bonds. Emerging Markets experience preferred.
- Develop and implement trading strategies to maximize portfolio performance, including sophisticated portfolio trading, evolving market structure and electronic execution.
- Oversight and implementation of the New Issue Process
- Lead the non-MNPI capital markets efforts with banks for early looks, non-deal roadshows, and reverse inquiry. Sponsor relationships a plus.
- Have a deep understanding of credit analysis, capital structure, LME, and relative value.
- Contribute to the Investment Committee, particularly on liquidity in more stressed names
- Be a key team member in the CLO issuance effort, providing strategy and insights, including block trades
- Provide insights, statistics, and colour to the team (incl tracking fund flows, short activity, percentage of market above par)
- Monitor market trends, economic indicators, and industry developments, communicating insights to the investment teams.
- Build, maintain, and grow relationships with the sell-side traders, sales, and structuring teams
- Collaborate with the research, risk management, and compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Work closely with the operations team to ensure timely and efficient settlement.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; MBA or CFA preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in bank loan trading or a related role.
- Strong understanding of loan market structures, pricing, and risk management.
- Proven track record of successful trading and portfolio management.
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
