Senior HR Generalist

The Senior HR Generalist serves as a trusted HR partner in a highly regulated, safety-critical environment. This role provides advanced human resources support across labor relations, employee relations, investigations, compliance, and HR operations, with a strong emphasis on safety culture, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation. The Senior HR Generalist, reporting to the HR Manager, partners closely with managers, employees, Legal, and HR leadership to ensure consistent, fair, and compliant application of policies, collective bargaining agreements (where applicable), and employment laws, while reinforcing a culture of accountability, transparency, and respect that supports safe and reliable operations.

This position is dedicated to supporting operations in Kemmerer, WY, including client-facing support and workforce partnership. The Senior HR Generalist will also serve as a backup resource for onboarding and operational HR processes as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations & Workforce Support

  • Partner closely with the Senior Employment Relations Specialist to serve as the primary point of contact for complex employee relations matters, including performance management, conduct issues, attendance concerns, workplace conflicts, and behavioral matters.
  • Advise managers on corrective action and disciplinary matters in partnership with the Senior Employment Relations Specialist, ensuring alignment with company policies, progressive discipline standards, and applicable legal requirements.
  • Support thorough documentation and case management to mitigate organizational risk.
  • Support workforce transitions, organizational changes, and site-based employee matters in partnership with leadership.

Labor Relations (Where Applicable)

  • Provide HR support in environments with represented employees.
  • Assist with interpretation and administration of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Support grievance processes, including intake, investigation, documentation, response drafting, and resolution tracking.
  • Partner with HR leadership and Legal on labor relations strategy, contract interpretation, and risk assessment.
  • Support labor-management meetings or preparation activities, as assigned.

Safety Culture & Compliance

  • Partner with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Employee Concerns Program, Compliance, and Legal teams to support safe and compliant workplace practices.
  • Reinforce safety culture principles through consistent, fair, and policy-aligned HR practices.

Investigations & Regulatory Compliance

  • Lead or support complex workplace investigations involving employee complaints, policy violations, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, or misconduct.
  • Ensure investigations are timely, objective, well-documented, and handled with appropriate confidentiality and sensitivity.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, NLRA, EEO), and internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare investigation summaries, findings, and recommendations for HR leadership and Legal review.
  • Support audits, regulatory inquiries, and internal reviews related to HR practices.

HR Operations & Onboarding Backup

  • Provide advanced day-to-day HR guidance to managers and employees at the Kemmerer site.
  • Coordinate Natrium organizational updates (e.g., including title changes, reporting adjustments, and structural changes), ensuring accurate system updates and timely stakeholder communication.
  • Support onboarding and employee lifecycle processes; serve as backup for onboarding coordination as needed.
  • Partner with HR stakeholders (i.e., Recruiting, Training, Finance, and IT) to ensure operational alignment.
  • Support and help manage the HR service ticketing desk, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of employee and manager inquiries.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 610+ years of progressive HR Generalist experience with strong employee relations background.
  • Experience supporting or preparing for labor relations environments preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of labor and employment laws and compliance best practices.
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations.
  • Ability to operate effectively in highly regulated, safety-critical environments.
  • Strong documentation, analytical, and case management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and coach leaders while maintaining credibility and discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting represented workforces or collective bargaining environments.
  • Familiarity with grievance processes or labor-management interaction.
  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) is a plus.
  • Experience in nuclear, energy, utilities, construction, manufacturing, aerospace, or other high-reliability industries.
  • Familiarity with Fitness for Duty programs.
  • Experience with HRIS (ADP is a plus).

Salary Range Level 10: $99,054 - $148,582

* We typically place offers in the lower to middle portion of the range to maintain internal equity and allow room for growth. Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individuals qualifications experience. This range is specific to Washington State.
