Pay Range
$58,200.00-$87,400.00 AnnualThis is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.
Senior Lab Technician - Single Ply - Roofing Systems
The Senior Lab Technician role will be to provide testing support to the Single Ply product platforms working closely with the product engineering team and the research and development team support the Roofing Systems Division. In this role the ideal candidate will collaborate and work with the product engineering teams to build test programs, execute the tests, and complete the data analysis to help make recommendations on next steps. This role will include extensive sample preparation, testing, analysis, as well as the development of new test methods as applicable. The technician role will also be required to maintain test equipment, maintain SOPs and JSA as it relates to applicable equipment. The role will also help to manage longer term weathering and testing programs implemented at the Technical Center.
Your Day to Day:
- Train in all applicable test methods, instruments, and relevant SOP’s and JSA’s.
- Engage in characterization of materials per specific technology (physical, chemical, destructive, etc.)
- Provide general product support/troubleshooting to address emergencies or ongoing product issues/concerns.
- Perform laboratory testing, experimentation, analysis and utilize standard procedures as necessary.
- Work as a collaborative team player among the operations teams, research and development teams, product engineering roles, and supply chain roles as necessary.
- Plan, design, lead, and execute all necessary test programs as requested and initiated by product engineering and/or R&D team members.
- Perform standard maintenance and upkeep of general laboratory areas and equipment.
- Facilitate quality product audits within the applicable plants and analyze previous reports and data.
- Actively support improvement of safety performance by encouraging safe behaviors of the team and engaging in the process to improve the JM safety culture.
- Create and maintain knowledge of latest technologies and evaluate for use in current process and future processes.
- Lead multiple projects and test programs across the single ply platforms.
What You Bring to the Team:
- High School diploma with a minimum of 5 years of industrial experience and/or equivalent JM experience
- Experience and skill in the operation of standard laboratory equipment.
- Experience and skill in general laboratory practices.
- Solid skills and knowledge in the technical field of interest specific to the position
- General knowledge of scientific equipment and capabilities in laboratories outside the direct area of expertise
- Thorough knowledge of good laboratory practices in regard to documentation and quality assurance and an ability to operate within these general practices.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Proven analytical and quality improvement ability.
- Minimal travel required (0 - 10 days per year)
- Work environment is typical of a research and development facility (may be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc.)
- May require lifting of materials up to 50 lbs.
