Senior Legal Counsel – Digital Assets Legal Team

The Role:

The FMR LLC Legal Department is seeking to hire an attorney to join the Digital Assets Legal Team as a member of the Brokerage and Wealth Management Practices Group. The Digital Assets Legal Team is responsible for advising on cutting edge legal issues spanning state and federal securities laws, crypto-specific regimes and banking law, among others. The Digital Asset Legal Team works across Fidelity, frequently collaborating with partners in Brokerage, Asset Management, the Fidelity Center for Applied Technology, and other business units to facilitate various business models that incorporate blockchain technology.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • J.D with 4-8 years’ experience with a law firm, financial services firm or state or federal agency, with a practice that focuses on digital assets.
  • Experience with the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, the Securities Act of 1933, and related SEC and FINRA rules and regulations OR the National Bank Act and related rules and regulations is preferred.
  • Experience negotiating commercial agreements.
  • Subject matter expertise with the crypto industry and regulations impacting digital asset service providers
  • Knowledge of securities and/or banking laws and regulations
  • Experience negotiating commercial agreements.
  • Excellent presentation, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive, practical and creative approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure on complex legal matters, as part of a dynamic and creative team of lawyers in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to excellence and integrity.

The Team:

You will support Fidelity’s digital assets businesses by supporting business development efforts, including contracting, managing our ongoing review of legislative changes affecting digital asset service providers and advising on new products and services.

The base salary range for this position is $140,000-285,000 USD per year.

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
