Summary:
This position manages the processing of chargebacks from wholesalers and distributors, plans and directs the support required for implementation of all activities associated with developing, monitoring, evolving and administering BMS' chargeback program. Manages collection procedures and ensures collections are optimized for chargeback deductions.
Responsibilities:
- First line manager of chargeback operations managing the processing of chargebacks from wholesalers and distributors
- Provide subject matter expertise to help internal teams understand chargeback processes and reduce errors that lead to chargebacks.
- Plans and directs the support required for implementation of all activities associated with developing, monitoring, and administering BMS' chargeback program
- Actively participates and team in the ongoing design/enhancement/implementation/testing of the Model N system relative to chargebacks.
- Coordinates cross-functional requirements with other P&CO teams to resolve chargeback errors.
- Coordinates with other departments such as Trade, Finance, and operations to gather necessary information for effective dispute resolution.
- Build and maintain business relationships with our wholesalers and distributors as well as across matrix teams including Government Price Reporting, Government Contracts Operations, Institutional Contract Administration, Customer Operations, Order to Cash Operations, IT, Trade Sales Ops, Finance and Customer Service Ops.
- Generate and review aging Accounts Receivable.
- Research and resolve payment discrepancies and monitor customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments and other account irregularities.
- Follow up on, collect and appropriately allocate payments.
- Reviews collection procedures and ensures collections are optimized for chargeback deductions.
- Makes decisions within the Net down process for current and aged deductions.
- Regularly reviews metrics and trending with management to demonstrate the overall effectiveness of operations.
- Identify anomalies within the chargeback trend in order to proactively resolve systemic issues.
- Track, analyze, and report on chargeback metrics to monitor the financial impact and highlight areas for improvement.
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual chargeback reports for management, detailing dispute resolutions, and recovery rates.
- Prepare presentations on chargeback activities, trends, and initiatives to reduce future occurrences.
- Compliance & Policy Development
- Develop and refine internal policies and procedures to streamline the chargeback process and minimize chargeback risk.
- Ensure all actions taken comply with company policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related subjects is required. CPA, MBA preferred
- A minimum of 5 years of related experience. Solid knowledge and experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process and control enhancements and proven managerial experiences are required
- Strong interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work well across a matrix team are required
- A broad knowledge of Pricing & Reimbursement functions, government pricing regulations and systems transactional processing are preferred.
- Experience with SAP and Microsoft Office. Exposure to Model N or a similar system is preferred
- Proven ability to provide coaching and feedback to the team
