The Enterprise Data Products (EDP) organization is part of the American Express Technology Group. EDP manages the Big Data Ecosystem which helps to centralize data across the company with built-in governance and democratization of access to a broad user community. The team is driving the future of our business by building products and platforms that deliver trusted and quality data for decision science processes, big data applications and analytical users. We are looking for Product Operational Managers across different work streams – Cornerstone, BI and Lumi. This role works closely with Business, Technology, and Infrastructure partners to address multiple initiatives across the enterprise in adoption of new platform, migration of current processes and uplift of current data governance and data processes to provide a well-defined data warehouse in support of enterprise initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Function as the primary point of contact with business partners to help identify, prioritize and resolve requirements and/ or issues to help drive migration/enablement on new Google Big Data platform
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners across multiple lines of businesses to brainstorm innovative solutions, capture requirements and benefits and drive a common future vision
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen with a focus on project management strategies and driving the delivery of projects in support of migration off legacy platform
  • Basic knowledge of data governance and data mapping /data relationships between different systems and business lines to create a unified "single source of truth".
  • Ability to identify, create, update, and maintain accurate reference data, such as product types, industry codes, and client information
  • Self-starter that can identify and drive opportunities to ensure timely delivery of projects in conjunction with business partners and alignment with capability teams.
  • Demonstrates the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities under pressure
  • Ability to come up with a variety of solutions to come up creative solutions for problems.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in Project Management or Data Operations Management with proven track record in managing projects, data analysis, and meeting key deadlines
  • Work closely with engineering, data, analytics and product management teams to deliver results
  • Shows a genuine personal dedication to successfully completing all projects with an ability to learn rapidly and adapt quickly to changing situations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, must be comfortable working continually on a diverse team spanning multiple locations with accountability for keeping commitments
  • Customer centric mindset with an ability to think in terms of products and capabilities required to deliver on a business strategy.
  • Ability to translate complicated business requirements into multiple solution options and analyze the pros/cons of various approaches
  • Ambitious with strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to present strategies to leaders and drive decision-making
  • Proficiency in SQL is required to query and analyze data
  • Able to interpret complex data structures and ensure accuracy in highly structured datasets.
  • Work across business partners in different organization to rationalize data, align on business definitions, publish and maintain/update as business changes
  • Ability to build strong relationships, operate effectively within large cross-functional teams, and influence business partners to drive transformational change
  • Confidence and the ability to handle ambiguity, multiple tasks, shifting priorities and set schedule to meet deliverables (works with a positive attitude, be flexible, and prioritize tasks)
  • Strategic thinker, who is able to combine technical skills with overall business strategy to creatively resolve complex problems in a dynamic environment
  • Previous Google Cloud Experience a plus.
