Position Summary

The Senior Manager, HR Partnering serves as a strategic people and talent partner for assigned business segments (Used Vehicles, AN Finance, Operations / OEM). This role partners closely with business leaders to translate strategy into actionable talent, organization, and workforce solutions that enable performance and growth.

Operating within a business embedded HR partnership model, the Sr Manager focuses on practical execution, organizational effectiveness, and measurable outcomes—while aligning with enterprise people strategies and AutoNation’s broader HR operating model. This role balances strategic influence with hands on leadership and execution.

Key Responsibilities

Business & Talent Partnership
• Partner with senior and mid-level leaders to align people and talent strategies with business objectives and operational priorities.
• Translate business plans into integrated workforce, talent, and organizational solutions that support execution and scalability.
• Provide insight driven recommendations that influence leadership decisions and improve business outcomes.

Business Performance Through People
• Leverage people analytics, workforce data, and performance insights to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Partner with leaders to improve productivity, talent outcomes, and organizational effectiveness.
• Connect people initiatives to operational, financial, and customer metrics to reinforce impact and accountability.


Talent Strategy & Leadership Effectiveness
• Support leaders in building high performing teams through succession planning, development, and capability building.
• Coach managers and senior leaders on leadership effectiveness, accountability, and change leadership.
• Identify leadership and capability gaps and partner with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) to implement targeted solutions.


Employee Experience, Culture & Change
• Diagnose engagement, culture, and employee experience challenges using data and leader feedback.
• Partner with leaders to strengthen accountability, alignment, and adherence to AutoNation’s cultural expectations.
• Support and lead change initiatives that enhance the employee experience and enable business transformation.


HR Consulting & COE Integration
• Act as a key liaison between the business and HR COEs to ensure enterprise programs are implemented effectively.
• Provide business informed feedback to influence the design and evolution of talent, learning, total rewards, and recruiting solutions.


People Analytics & Workforce Insights
• Utilize dashboards and analytics tools (e.g., AskHR, AI agents, Copilot, Workday, Power BI) to monitor workforce trends and risks.
• Track workforce health indicators such as retention risk, talent pipeline strength, and organizational capacity.
• Translate insights into clear recommendations and action plans for leaders.
HR Operating Model & Digital Enablement
• Promote adoption of HR technology, self service tools, and digital workflows to reduce administrative work and improve efficiency.
• Reinforce the enterprise HR operating model by focusing on strategic and consultative work over transactional activities.
• Identify opportunities to modernize and continuously improve HR practices within the supported business segments.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
• 8 – 12+ years of progressive HR or people leadership experience, including partnership with complex business units or multi site operations.
• Demonstrated ability to influence leaders and deliver measurable business outcomes through talent and organizational solutions.
• Strong analytical capability with experience translating workforce data into insights and recommendations.
• Solid expertise in organizational design, leadership development, talent management, and change leadership.
• Experience partnering effectively with HR COEs within an enterprise HR model.
