The Role

The Senior Manager, Trade Operations is responsible for managing day to day operations of the equity settlement team based in Merrimack in markets across the US Canada and Latin America region. Reporting locally to the director of trade operations, the senior manager of Equity operations will partner closely with their colleagues and peers in both the Dublin, HK and US teams to ensure that all trades executed by our trading desks are getting confirmed, matched and settled in line with internal controls and procedures.

  • Ensure that all equity trades are confirmed, matched, and settled on time.
  • Identify changes to the operating environment it is of pivotal importance that these are communicated out to the wider Fidelity group so that lessons can be learnt and experiences shared.
  • Operating to strict quality limits, the Senior Manager will be heavily involved in maintaining quality and ensuring work efficiency and best practices are followed.
  • Anticipate and control market risks and partner with teams to ensure that any changes or updates to controls are made and communicated accordingly.
  • Play a significant role in the documentation of the performance of our suppliers and clients such as the custodian banks, brokers and service providers- both internal and external. Communication and relationship building are key parts of this role.
  • Working in an agile framework help to identify, allocate and support project work across the team that aligns to our departments strategic goals and objectives as well as helping to prepare us for any market or regulatory changes that will impact our operations.
  • Responsible for monitoring and tracking the performance of the team members in their group, through regular performance meetings, development meetings and through the Fidelity performance program.

The Expertise & Skills You Bring

  • Deep knowledge of trade operations experience – Preferably in with Equity Settlements
  • Direct people and team management experience required
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate up and across the organization.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of new operational processes in a system and market context.
  • Demonstratable experience in the area operational risk and control management, particularly in a settlement context.
  • Understanding of capacity management.
  • Experience working in an agile environment.
  • Knowledge of the CTM application required.
  • Strong data analytics skills to identify risks and opportunities for improvement or refinement.
  • Proven ability to build relationships both internally and externally fast as well as the ability to grow these further.
  • Strong communication skills and the willingness to challenge established norms

The Team

The Global Middle Office (GMO) Trade Operations Division acts as a servicing center for our trading desks globally, facilitating trade capture, confirmation and settlement of security and currency transactions with brokers and custodian banks. In addition to the various external counterparts that the teams deal with, there are also several internal groups that assist in the group's daily responsibilities, including Compliance, Treasurer's Office, Counterparty Risk, Legal, Fund Accounting, and other Custody groups. All of these combine to ensure that we are providing accurate and timely information into the NAV and then value to our investors.

Most roles at Fidelity are Hybrid, requiring associates to work onsite every other week (all business days, M-F) in a Fidelity office. This does not apply to Remote or fully Onsite roles.
