We are looking for a Senior Performance and Attribution Analyst, who will support multiple types of investment performance analytics including security selection, market selection, asset allocation, and risk for a broad range of Fidelity Portfolios. The Senior Analyst will respond to inquiries from the investment staff and senior leaders about attribution results and will collaborate with index, accounting, and advisor analytics data teams for attribution data needs. You will participate in new product development initiatives with advisors and the investment product groups to ensure attribution requirements are met when new strategies come to market. You will facilitate discussions with the technology team and other business partners to define requirements for each product launch or fund structure change and ensure investment strategies are properly handled within the Performance Attribution System. This role is also responsible for the attribution calculations across the various asset classes as well as interacting with and educating the investment staff, their support staff, and senior leadership on attribution reporting across all asset classes.

  • Delivering accurate and timely reporting on investment performance and attribution to all of Fidelity’s advisors.
  • Compiling, analyzing, and validating attribution results that are distributed across the organization and externally
  • Analyzing and interpreting portfolio performance and identifying the factors impacting performance such as industry, market cap, security selection, or other market factors
  • Creating customized analyses for response to adhoc inquiries from portfolio managers and senior leaders
  • Supporting and taking ownership of attribution data quality and integrity

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of experience in finance, accounting, or related field
  • Fund accounting or performance attribution
  • Interest in mutual fund performance, attribution, and/or multi-asset class investment strategies
  • Interest in equity markets, ETFs, derivatives, asset allocation, investment vehicles, and portfolio construction
  • Strong Microsoft office skills required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Your attention to detail and ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Your market knowledge and skill with investment performance computations
  • Your ability to problem solve complex data issues and effectively communicate to internal clients
  • Your use of sound judgment to recognize and resolve systematic issues relating to reporting cycles
  • Your collaborative approach to problem solving and ability to manage expectations of high-profile clients
  • Your ability to collaborate with team members, lead team discussions, and present operational improvement ideas

The Team

The Performance, Attribution, and Product Disclosure team responds to investment staff inquiries and supports their information needs with respect to portfolio attribution. The group is responsible for monitoring portfolio, index, and third-party data and validation of portfolio level attribution results. Analysts review fund and holdings level activity to then compile, research, and validate attribution results. This ensures quality of attribution results for internal clients and downstream deliverables. The team produces daily, periodic (Monthly/Quarterly), and adhoc attribution reports that decompose portfolio returns on an absolute and relative basis. These results are used in marketing material, public reporting, and portfolio management. The team provides adhoc performance and attribution analysis to the investment staff and senior leaders.
