Overview of Role/Job Purpose:

The Sr. Program Manager will manage initiatives for program and product delivery in a transformational, fast paced environment at VertexOne. The Sr. Program Manager will apply knowledge of all Project Management discipline areas (Scope, Risk, Quality, Financial, Communication, Schedule, and Integration) to create/maintain or lead the creation of deliverables for project planning, execution, reporting, reviewing, and decision making. They will be responsible for the planning and execution of multiple concurrent initiatives for Program and Product Delivery.

This position will lead other teams at VertexOne to execute multiple project objectives, including deliverables, budget performance, and schedule adherence.

The role needs a positive "can do" attitude with a passion for delivering, self-motivation, and a proactive approach. Individuals need to take responsibility, be organized, and demonstrate a professional approach to their work.

Essential Job Duties:

Ensure an effective governance model is defined and implemented to ensure project success; create and manage project plan components :

  • Create Project Plan
  • Baseline Plans
  • Maintain Project Plans with the appropriate level of detail
  • Ensure that all tasks are appropriately scheduled (dependency, dates, resources, effort)
  • Ensure Critical Path is understood and managed
  • Ensure Milestones are defined and met
  • Work with client teams to make sure project plans requirements are approved and signed off, client tasks and deliverables are communicated to the client team, and are held accountable for their deliverables
  • Document and manage risks, action items, issues, constraints, assumptions, escalating as appropriate

Manage assigned resources for the project. Identify and negotiate with management to allocate sufficient resources for a successful delivery:

  • Progress
  • Remove Roadblocks
  • Reassignment (as necessary)
  • Establish and Maintain relationships with functional organizations
  • Schedule appropriate meetings related to the program
  • Manage and Maintain Time Management
  • Project Resources and appropriate tasks
  • Approval of Time / Review of remaining hours
  • Reject and re-allocation of inappropriate time

Monitor project progress and provide ongoing project status reporting. Escalate issues in a timely manner:

  • Prepare Status
  • Tasks
  • Future Meetings
  • Actions/Issues/Risks
  • Budget time/Dollars (Burn)Have a strong customer focus
  • Utilize appropriate agile, sequential and hybrid methodologies to manage the successful delivery of products
  • Champion a standard product development methodology with supporting processes and best practices
  • Collaborate with Product stakeholders to plan release schedules based on business priorities, ensure proper balance between features and high-quality working software and help to identify and mitigate risks in feature/product development
  • Facilitate sprint planning, daily scrum meetings, reviews/demos and retrospective meetings for multiple product teams
  • Participate in cross-functional and client meetings and work sessions related to new products and services, process improvement, operational issues, change management, and other related subjects
  • Up to 25% Travel to client sites

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Thorough understanding of project management; PMP certification preferred
  • 5 + years (minimum) experience working as a Project Manager in operations and business environment
  • 3 + years (minimum) utilities experience and at least 2 full cycle CIS implementations
  • Agile certification preferred
  • Highly organized and able to wear multiple hats in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment; a driving force who manages toward clarity and solutions.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently on own initiative and as part of a team
  • They will have a successful track record in setting priorities, shaping processes, guiding investment in people and technology, and developing an infrastructure that creates a more robust and efficient operation.
  • Ability to learn quickly and provide value when placed in unfamiliar settings
  • Ability to manage internal and external expectations, including client
  • Ability to meet deadlines on aggressive schedules
  • Ability to multi-task and to give and take direction
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
