Your Recipe for Impact — What You’ll Do
As a Senior Project Specialist, you’ll lead high-impact projects from concept to completion—delivering results that support Whataburger’s continued growth. In this role, you’ll Make a Difference by driving initiatives that improve performance, efficiency, and the overall guest experience. You’ll Serve with Heart by building strong relationships and ensuring stakeholders feel informed, supported, and aligned throughout every phase of a project. Day-to-Day Ingredients — Responsibilities
As a Senior Project Specialist, you will:
- Lead end-to-end project execution, ensuring delivery on scope, timeline, and budget
- Develop and maintain project plans, proactively adjusting for risks and changes
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks while recommending solutions
- Drive cross-functional collaboration and alignment across stakeholders
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project communication and updates
- Monitor budgets and forecasts, implementing corrective actions when needed
- Lead change management efforts and evaluate impacts to scope, cost, and timelines
- Manage vendor performance to ensure quality and efficiency

What You Bring to the Table — Required Experience
As a Senior Project Specialist, you must have:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 4+ years of project management or related experience
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and align stakeholders
- Experience driving cross-functional initiatives and collaboration
- Ability to analyze data, identify risks, and implement effective solutions
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through
- Proficiency with project management tools and reporting
Extra Toppings — Desired Experience
As a Senior Project Specialist, we prefer you to have:
- Project management certification (e.g., CAPM or similar)
- Experience managing vendors or external partners
- Background in process improvement or continuous improvement practices
- Experience in a fast-paced, multi-unit, or operations-driven environment
- Advanced data analysis and reporting skills
- Familiarity with change management frameworks and best practices
Where & How You’ll Work
This role is based at the San Antonio Home Office, working on‑site Monday through Thursday with remote flexibility on Fridays. In this role, you’ll have strong collaboration with leadership, across cross-functional teams, and with external partners to align capabilities with restaurant realities. The work environment is fast‑paced and requires sound judgment, strategic thinking, and strong collaboration skills. Full‑time availability is required, with occasional extended hours based on business needs, along with occasional travel to properties, project sites, and external meetings. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of the San Antonio Home Office.
