The U.S. Consumer Services and Digital Technology (USCDT) Team brings together foundational strategic technology capabilities in digital experience engineering, AI/ML, marketing technology, enterprise communications, travel and lifestyle, and automation, grounded in our data technology model that prioritizes data governance and data management. It employs a ground-breaking focus with development responsibilities for customer-facing capabilities that deepen and expand digital engagement, as well as core technical capabilities that cut across business lines and customer segments.
The American Express USCDT CPD team is responsible for delivery of critical strategic initiatives for US Consumer and other enterprise businesses.
How will you make an impact in this role?.
- We are seeking an experienced Quality Test Manager and team leader with test strategy, management and automation experience to join our team in Phoenix. Our Quality Test Managers understand that “good enough” is never enough. They strive for the highest levels of quality and the most efficient methods to achieve it. They are experts in testing strategies, tooling, and execution.
- This position suits someone who can hit the ground running, form working relationships quickly and add value by introducing best test practices and techniques.
As a Quality Test Manager on our team, you will:
- Develop Test Strategies, Plans and Execution Artifacts with internal and external partners
- Manage testing & guide QAs for user journey testing across various platforms for large & complex projects
- Build and leverage a deep understanding of the products and technology assets being tested to ensure optimal test coverage
- Lead a team of test managers to build a high performing team, bring consistency to approaches and artifacts, and execute efficiently across initiatives
- Partner with application architects and environment operations on test infrastructure design
- Work with software, infrastructure, and QA engineers to deliver target code quality
- Work with Product Owners and Release Train Engineers to review test scenarios, validate test results and maintain documentation
- Design quality metrics to be gathered, collated and reported to management. Identify patterns and opportunities from the metrics to drive innovation and improvement
- Provide guidance to engineering teams including driving improvements in automation and testing in a Continuous Delivery/Continuous Integration (CD/CI) environment
- Identify opportunities to adopt innovative testing technologies and techniques
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other technical discipline, or equivalent work experience preferred; advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years of proven skills in quality and test engineering in the financial industry specifically the Credit Card and Marketing domains with ability to create test data, write test cases, running functional, automated, and/or performance tests, conducting SWOT analysis and leading defect resolution
- Solid experience in test-driven development and Testing Center of Excellence (TCOE) based on the industry best practices, tools, standards and testing governance, test processes, testing templates (Test Plan, Defect process etc.), and test approach for critical enterprise-level projects
- Experience in System Testing, Integration Testing, Systems Integration Test, Regression Testing, End-to-End Testing, Functional Testing, Smoke, User Acceptance Test, ETL Testing, Mobile and Automation Testing
- Experience in recruitment, coaching, and training of new resources
- Experience in managing project teams, business users, suppliers, Onshore-Offshore, multiple geographic locations and time zones
- Experience in setting up automation strategy, frameworks and teams
- Experience in handling US Consumer testing projects; Client Server, Web Applications, Java, Mainframes, MQ series, Database (Oracle SQL), Teradata, Extract Transform & Load (ETL), Unix, DB2, HBase (exp. with credit Cards, Marketing domain)
- Experienced knowledge of platform delivery methodology (Agile, incl Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behavior Driven Development (BDD)
- Core knowledge of one or more of the following tools is required: HP Quality Center, Selenium; Unified Functional Test (UFT aka QTP), orchestrators such as XL Release; IBM Rational including Urban Code
- Ability to work with several Quality scanning tools, be able to baseline and measure on-going quality metrics, and display via Dashboards and to interpret the data to drive the changes needed
- Hands on experience in automation testing & debugging using tools like POSTMAN, SOAP UI, REST Assured, etc.
- Experienced knowledge of continuous integration (CI), continuous deployment (CD) and continuous testing (CT) capabilities, including tools such as Jenkins, ARA, Rally and/or JIRA, version control such as GIT or SVN and service virtualization
- Leadership qualities, professional presence, extremely strong communication skills and ability to influence without direct authority
- Expertise on different phases and deliverables of testing projects- Test plan, Test approach, Test data, Test execution etc., including automation for test data, test bed setup and execution
- Critical thinker, evaluate test needs and make data driven decisions
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong technical experience in Oracle, DB2, VSAM, Couch base, HBase, RDBMS and NoSQL Databases
- Strong technical experience working one of more of the following areas: Mainframe, distributed systems, programming languages; Python, Java, Groovy, COBOL, JCL, HTMLm PL/SQL, Java Script, Java
- Tool and application experience with Pycharm, Hive, Postman, Ready API, Soap UI, Selenium, ETL, Changeman, Putty, SharePoint, Clarity, Eclipse, IBM Data Studio, SQL Developer, JIRA, Kafka, PCOMM, TortoiseSVN, GIThub, Citrix, Splunk, Endevor, File-Aid, Abend-Aid, Xpediter, Princeton SPUFI, QMF, BMC Syncsort Utilities, MPP, Rally, REST API
- Any of the following test certifications are a plus; QAI, ASQ, IIST, ISEB, ISTQB
Salary Range: $123,000.00 to $215,250.00 annually + bonus + benefits
