About the role:

The role of the Regional Sales Manager (RSM) is to assist and engage dealers on promoting and selling all MLA - Houston products, Class I-V, and being the primary contact between the dealership and MLA, and vice versa. The RSM is ultimately responsible for achieving set new equipment forecasts within each of the five classes for all assigned dealers. The RSM will utilize a variety of methods to accomplish these tasks, including engaging dealer management on sales strategy and business plan expectations, continuously review of SPM and SOM goals, competently and energetically train sales staff on product, demo techniques and deal execution, as well as program creation to encourage sales of MLA - Houston product.

What you will do:

  • Exceed annual new equipment sales forecast assigned to region
  • Develop and execute strategic, new equipment business growth plans
  • Hold self and senior dealer management accountable for the retail sales and promotion of Cat, Jungheinrich and Mitsubishi brand forklifts.
  • Increase Share of Market (SOM) within the dealership.
  • Ensure dealers are carrying sufficient stock quantities to meet expected consumer demand. 
  • Confirm accuracy of dealer inventory reports.
  • Provide comprehensive and energetic training on Class I-V products that supports our Brand Values and training needs of the dealer. 
  • Lead high level strategy discussions and meetings with dealers determined to be "Critical Partners" and determine upper-level management's involvement to achieve set goals.
  • Hold dealers accountable to Business Plan goals and market share expectations.
  • Develop specific strategies with target customers and ensure the plans are in line with both dealership and MLA sales goals.


When & Where:
Must have home office, access to a sizeable airport and ability to work remotely.
Overnight travel required, 30-40% travel

What you need to have:

  • Business Management / Marketing degree and/or 3 - 5 years industry experience
  • Effective communication; written / oral, public speaking, negotiation and selling skills
  • Sales training for new and experienced dealer sales representatives
  • Knowledgeable with Electric and IC Forklifts and the Forklift Industry
  • Must Possess the ability to analyze dealer performance including sales pipeline metrics and market participation management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excell, PowerPoint, Outlook and CRM Systems
  • Ability to work under pressure and complete tasks within required time lines
  • High level of accountability that delivers closure and demonstrates task ownership


What would be nice to have:

  • Warehousing/Logistics/Supply Chain education experience a plus
  • Experience in developing and leading sales or technical training to large groups
  • Self-Starter with minimal management
  • Effective follow through and prompt response to meet demands of retail sales needs
  • Ability to make accurate financial decisions to preserve and add to MLA's profitability
  • Clear understanding of MLA's Mission, Vision and Values
