Pay Range

$98,900.00-$136,000.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.

The Senior Technical Sales Engineer services assigned accounts under the direction of Key Account Manager and others on the commercial team to actively resolve customer issues. They are expected to provide technical expertise as it relates to quality, technical, new product development, etc. with the goal of expanding sales and/or profitability. The Senior Technical Sales Engineer will also be responsible for managing their own set of smaller accounts, selling business product lines/systems, and generating new growth and profitability within specific assigned markets. The incumbent must have a technical background, may have some sales background, and will be expected to acquire the complete set of any needed sales and technical skills.

The ideal candidate will live near Waterville, OH, Etowah, TN, or Denver/Littleton, CO. If they are not located there candidates should be located within an hour of an international airport. Heavy car and air travel are required; a company car is provided along with gas card as well.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Directly responsible for leading & resolving product quality complaints through analyzing the specifics of the situation and driving internal and external teams to resolve the issue to the customers’ satisfaction
  • Directly responsible for leading new product trials and working in a hands-on manner with the internal Operations and I&C teams as well as the customers’ technical R&D team.
  • Works independently to resolve issues within assigned accounts and execute the business strategy under the guidance of the Commercial Leader and/or Key Account Manager.
  • Sell business product lines/systems and generate new growth and profitability within specific assigned markets / customers
  • Support the business in a generation of new growth accounts while developing existing accounts
  • Make direct customer calls and visits to develop and increase sales, drive product and system sales to support established price strategies; assure legal compliance in the selling of all products and systems with applicable local, state and federal regulations
  • Manage customer needs through product development processes; provide technical assistance and information to customers; respond to customer inquiries
  • Develop sales forecasts by product SKU, markets and major customers; monitor and make recommendations concerning market needs; changes in competitive strategies and policies, pricing and sales activity; prepare and issue reports as required
  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Materials, Chemical, or Mechanical preferred) with a minimum of 5 years of technical experience with a manufacturing company, which should include some commercial knowledge
  • Product and process knowledge, ideally in composites, glass or building products
  • Ability to apply practical knowledge of job area to solve complex problems
  • Expert ability to build rapport and develop strong customer relationships at multiple levels
  • Strong value selling skills
  • Solid time management skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Must be able to drive vehicle for long periods of time and carry a valid driver’s license
  • Heavy travel required (90 or more days per year) most travel is US based however some international may be required
  • Primary work environment is typically in the field at a customer’s facility or on a job site; may be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc.
