POSITION SUMMARY: Primarily responsible for sewing according to workorder specifications using strict quality standards. Sound knowledge of various fabrics and sewing techniques utilizing sewing equipment. Basic knowledge of sewing equipment operations including set-up and troubleshooting.

PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for all custom upholstery orders, providing support for standard production when required.
  • Trains and learns a variety of sewing techniques by following training guidelines.
  • Performs visual control of process to ensure that custom requests and customers’ needs/expectations are satisfied.
  • Follows department area procedures and policies such as KANBAN, scrap/reprocessing, and work instructions. Responsible for utilizing multiple material for sewers utilizing KANBAN system.
  • Following all applicable safety/housekeeping guidelines. Performs necessary preventative maintenance.
  • Participates in a self-managed team. Assumes specific responsibilities on a rotating basis for activities/items such as team representative, team indicators, team meeting minutes, etc.
  • May work on special projects/assignments upon request.

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • One year sewing experience required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend (in English) simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Documents may include Material Safety Data Sheets, work orders, work instructions, manuals, policies, and procedures, etc.
  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
