Job Summary
THIS POSITION IS FOR THE 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR!
The Signature Program Intern supports the mission and daily operations of the Martin Luther King Center by assisting with the development and execution of high-impact programming. Interns serve as student leaders and ambassadors, fostering purposeful engagement and supporting peers through educational and community-building initiatives.
- Program Development & Implementation
Collaborate regularly with the Associate Directors to plan, coordinate, and execute monthly Signature Programs that align with the Center’s mission of promoting civic leadership, wellbeing, student success, and community building. - Facilitation & Engagement
Assist in designing and leading engaging, interactive discussion-based sessions that address student experiences, and reflect campus life. - Office Presence & Support
Maintain a consistent presence in the MLK Center for a minimum of 7 active hours per week to support general office functions and programmatic responsibilities. Total weekly commitment is 10 hours. - Team Collaboration
Serve as an active and reliable member of the Signature Programming Team, contributing ideas, assisting with logistics, and helping ensure the successful execution of events and initiatives. - Outreach & Promotion
Increase awareness of MLK Center events by participating in occasional tabling efforts, distributing promotional materials, and create engagement through connections and collaborations. - Professional Development & Mentorship
Participate in bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with the Associate Directors to reflect on leadership growth, academic progress, and personal wellbeing. - Training & Event Support
Attend all scheduled staff meetings, retreats, and required trainings. Interns are expected to assist with a minimum of five MLK Center-hosted events per semester and may occasionally be required to attend weekend service or program events.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Signature Programming Interns are expected to demonstrate high levels of confidentiality and a desire to learn new skills. The students in this position must be a self-starter and have an understanding of working in a professional environment, and have excellent customer service skills. This position requires a positive attitude and a willingness to assume a variety of roles. The Signature Programming Intern is expected to report to work on time, dressed appropriately and show respect for colleagues in the workplace.
