DescriptionThe purpose of your role as a Site Safety Supervisor
The Site Safety Supervisor will assist in the supervision and administration of Harris’ health & safety and program to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. They will contribute to the desired safety and work culture of the organization.
Safety:
- Proactively assist in identifying and mitigating hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities by collaborating with project management and supervisory teams
- Support the supervision and coordination of an incident response as it pertains to safety, first aid, and rescue operations; assume full responsibility for site safety during assigned shift work
- Contribute to the development, delivery and oversight of new hire employee orientations, task-specific training, and ongoing supervisor safety programs, while supporting project manager safety training initiatives
- Perform detailed work area inspections, including confined space air sampling, and lead investigations into property damage and personal injury incidents
- Maintain thorough documentation of accidents, safety violations, and unsafe conditions; issue confined space entry and hot work permits as required
- Partner with safety, health, and insurance representatives during site inspections and walkthroughs
- Stay current on industry advancements by reviewing safety publications, equipment updates, and best practices
- Assist in preparing formal appeals for safety violation citations
- Accurately input and manage safety data using Industry Safe management software
Site Safety:
- Take ownership of the safety and well-being of Harris employees on-site
- Actively collaborate with the broader project safety team to foster a best-in-class safety culture across all trades
- Lead or support project-specific safety training sessions to ensure compliance and awareness
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve site-specific safety plans
- Coordinate safety badging processes and substance abuse screening programs
- Deliver engaging and informative safety orientations & tool box talks for all personnel
- Serve as a subject matter expert in mechanical contracting safety, providing guidance across the project
- Conduct specialized safety training related to mechanical systems and operations
- Participate in and support comprehensive site safety audits and assessments
- Manage the full lifecycle of permits, including hot work, confine space, excavation (dig), ladder and pre-task safety planning documentation
- Actively engage in daily project meetings, including toolbox talks, subcontractor coordination, safety committees, and planning sessions
- Drive daily on-site safety management by:
- Conducting routine walkthroughs and real-time project assessments
- Spot-checking & approving pre-task plans, permits, and active work areas
- Participating in worker-to-worker safety observation programs
- Deliver timely and detailed incident analysis reports for near misses, injuries, and property damage events
- Support injury case management efforts, including return-to-work and restricted duty programs
- Engage in emergency response planning, crisis management, and mock drills
- Lead or participate in daily stretch-and-bend programs to promote worker readiness
- Ensure Harris team members are prepared, compliant, and safety-focused at the start of each workday
- Contribute to the development and execution of integrated work plans and job hazard analyses
- Support the creation of proactive safety recognition and reward programs
- Prepare and present monthly safety performance metrics, including Recordable Incident Rate and Days Away/Restricted/Transferred data
- Track and report leading indicators such as training completion rates, audit activity, safety observations, and hazard reporting
Safety Supplies/Equipment Coordination:
- Efficiently fulfill and coordinate supply orders for job sites while maintaining optimal inventory levels
- Organize and maintain equipment storage areas to ensure materials are secure, accessible, and protected
- Ensure all safety equipment and supplies are stored and managed in compliance with field procedures and company standards
What we’re looking for in you
- High School Diploma required
- Safety certification required from an accredited or industry-recognized such as BCSP
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, or safety preferred
- 4+ years of experience in construction or industrial occupational health and safety
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Office tools
- Strong knowledge of safety equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to protect people, property, and operations at the local, state, and national levels
- Proficient understanding of OSHA standards and regulatory guidelines
- Experience with workers’ compensation and accident investigation processes preferred
- OSHA 30 Certification required
- OSHA 510 preferred

Pay Range: $81,741 to $122,611 per year
The actual salary offer will vary by candidate based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
