Job Summary: Sparking interest in the world of automation and fabrication, these one-week, non-credit summer camps allows incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students to explore the career areas of Welding, Robotics, and CNC Machining. Participants will engage in hands-on welding, CNC, and robotics activities, work on a collaborative group project, and go on industry tours. Participants will also engage in presentations with local industry professionals. The SMART Camp Program Assistant will assist the Early College staff with the implementation of SMART Camp for the summer of 2026. The Program Assistant will maintain a safe and educational learning environment for middle school participants by successfully assisting with the implementation of the daily activities.

Program Schedule:
SMART Camp operates from 8:00am � 5:00pm from Monday through Friday during the following weeks:
o June 22 � 26, 2026
o July 13 � 17, 2026
o July 20 � 24, 2026
o July 27 � 31, 2026

The SMART Camp Program Assistant is required to be available from 8:00am � 5:00pm from Monday through Friday for each of the weeks above, as well as from 9:00am � 12:00pm on June 17 & 18, 2026 and 8:00am � 5:00pm on July 10, 2026.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Related duties may be assigned.

Work with program staff to assist with leading planned activities and curriculum for SMART Camp students
Develop and maintain professional working relationships through effective and timely communication with all program staff, as well as all other program and building personnel
Assist program staff with addressing ongoing needs of all student participants
Observe, monitor, and participate in student activities/games
Redirect inappropriate student behaviors and enforce program's disciplinary standards
Develop a cooperative and supportive atmosphere in the classroom
Collaborate with Early College on daily schedules
Prepare RC car project kits (3D print components)
Prepare classroom space and equipment used to build RC car
Provide tour of ATC
Assist students in building of RC car project
Collaborate with Early College to setup and conduct open house on final day each week

Minimum Qualifications
Experience working with students as a teacher, educational aid, after school care aid, and/or daycare assistant
Enjoys working with middle school-aged students
A sense of professionalism and willingness to communicate with other staff as well as parents in accordance with FERPA guidelines
High School diploma or equivalent.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a classroom setting.
