JOB SUMMARY:

The Solutions Engineer – Risk & Fraud serves as the technical expert and strategic partner for the credit Union’s Fraud and Risk systems, including but not limited to Verafin, Ncontracts, Q2, and Quavo. Ensures alignment between business operations and IT, overseeing seamless integration across platforms and facilitates prioritization and execution of improvements across

these system areas. Engages directly with vendors and integrated third parties for discovery and work plan development. Leads the definition of requirements, testing, and implementation of system enhancements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert for Risk and Fraud systems (Verafin, Ncontracts, Q2, Quavo) and any integrations with applicable other platforms across the credit union.
  • Collaborate with Fraud and Risk teams as the technical resource to translate business needs into system requirements, configurations, and technical support.
  • Consults with business unit leadership to identify and provide recommendations about systemic and procedural opportunities to increase efficiency in the core operations of the credit union.
  • Analyzes the functionality of these systems to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement, supporting system enhancements, updates, patches, and integrations to drive operational improvement, ensuring minimal disruption to operations and alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Reviews release note documentation to determine potential impact, recommends features to adopt to business units, and maintains and updates setup and configuration for each subsequent release.
  • Lead definition of requirements, testing, and implementation of system enhancements and releases.
  • Develop architecture scripts, custom integrations, and system automations for applicable platforms.
  • Lead enterprise-level improvements, data integrations, reporting/analytics enhancements, and automation across fraud and risk systems.
  • Develops and maintains documentation describing product build and configuration, procedures, testing, changes, and corrections.
  • Exercises discretion and independent judgement in the development of detailed specifications to support specific business needs while considering impacts to other departments and member/staff experience.
  • Collaborates cross functionally to execute project and change management to meet both short- and long-term business objectives.
  • Interprets and maintains current working knowledge of the systems as the technical resource, performing system configuration of new features/products.
  • Tests solutions effectively utilizing industry standard analysis methods.
  • Represents the credit union working directly with software vendors to formulate design decisions and implement configuration that impacts operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to evaluate AI use cases and integrate AI tools into system configurations and enhancements.
  • Support the implementation of AI-driven features in core systems, including testing, documentation, and performance monitoring.
  • Stay informed on AI trends and tools relevant to core banking and enterprise systems.
  • Analyze system data to identify opportunities for predictive analytics, automation, and intelligent decision support.
  • Additional projects, responsibilities, or other duties assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong problem-solving skills to address complex situations with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to advise and guide business and technical partners in assessment of business need and resolution of business problems in a highly collaborative manner.
  • Ability to drive consensus building and conflict resolution.
  • Strong time and project management skills to balance competing priorities in a time-sensitive environment to meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to analyze information and evaluate the implications of a course of action or solution.
  • Ability to use data to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Strong change management skills, with experience in driving change adoption.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Expert level proficiency with Fraud and Risk systems such as but not limited to Verafin, Ncontracts, Q2, and Quavo.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to communicate confidently with employees and leaders at all levels.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and their application in systems analysis or financial services.
  • Experience with AI-enhanced platforms (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, chatbots, or predictive analytics tools) is a plus.
  • Ability to translate business needs into AI-supported system configurations and enhancements.

MIN QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in system administration and system analysis in fraud, risk, or related financial systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with credit union operations in fraud, risk, and/or BSA preferred.
  • Experience with Verafin, Ncontracts, Q2, and/or Quavo preferred.
  • Experience with integrations, workflow automation, and enterprise reporting tools preferred.
