Position Overview:
Responsible for the planning, implementation, and supervision of warehouse procedures and operations of special process materials according to all established Company and regulatory policies and procedures, including accurate receipt, shipment, storage and production process. Responsible for providing professional, accurate and timely assistance to stakeholders. Supervises and coordinates activities of warehouse workers, including safety/risk management, receiving, transportation, warehousing, and maintenance/repair operations for special process equipment, all in accordance with established company and regulatory policies and procedures. Adheres to and promotes Company values by performing duties in a manner that is consistent with being a team leader and supports the continued growth of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversees and assists with the receipt, coordination, and safety of special process product including frozen and private label goods coming through the warehouse.
- Plans layout of freezer, private label, and other aerospace storage areas.
- Schedules preventative maintenance for the freezer and related equipment.
- Analyzes records and recommends corrective actions for reported non-usable, aged, and excess stock.
- Reviews records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures, and to determine adequacy of inventory levels; performs or oversees cycle counts.
- Audits freezer repair and FedEx / UPS invoices.
Ensures orders arrive and are shipped on time to appropriate destinations and in expected quantities.
- Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records; recommends corrective actions to resolve discrepancies.
- Evaluates routing to determine the most efficient modes of transportation.
- Executes Certified Account protocol and documentation requirements; collaborates with Procurement, Warehouse, and Aerospace team to review and provide delivery dates, specs, certs, packaging and shipping requirements, shipping methods, weight and dimension, conversions, etc.
- Manages inventory levels of and orders dry ice and required packaging.
- Performs inventory stock checks, labels vendor products with customer labels as required, and verifies customer specs and certs.
Assists in staffing, development, and performance management of warehouse workers.
- Participates in the hiring process of warehouse staff; assists with new hire training.
- Provides motivational and developmental leadership to Warehouse staff on a daily basis; may provide performance-related feedback to Manager, DC Operations in order to assist with semi-annual performance reviews.
- Monitors hours worked, supervises team members’ attendance records and schedules. Ensures the department is properly staffed at all times.
- Schedules work for special and periodic inventories.
Communicates and ensures all requirements pertaining to warehousing, material handling, safety and shipping are followed by staff.
- Advises employees on care and preservation of temperature sensitive (excluding organic peroxide) and private label items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping inventory, and related issues.
- Maintains a safe and compliant work environment by providing adequate safety training; conducts monthly safety meetings and completes training as determined by HSE; updates all HSE training documentation in B2B database, as required.
- Observes safety and security procedures; determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; reports and corrects potential unsafe conditions; corrects and disciplines employees, as necessary, for unsafe acts and behaviors.
Expected Skills and Qualifications:
1-3+ years related experience in a warehouse environment
Experience with Quality Management System (QMS) and/or Aerospace AS9100 certification, receiving, order picking, shipping, inventory counts, knowledge and understanding of FIFO, OSHA requirements, safety awareness and hazardous material handling/shipping
Expertise in certified account protocol and documentation requirements
Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures related to customer service
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Proficient with ERP shipping, receiving, inventory and necessary reports, B2B functions, incident reporting, UPS, FedEx, and dedicated logistics systems
Able to learn internal database and software systems
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
Additional Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Experience with SAP
Supervisory experience
Experience in a B2B account support and distribution role
Forklift certification
Associates degree. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be substituted for education.
Physical Requirements for a Special Processes Warehouse Supervisor:
This position involves chemical handling.
- While performing the duties of this job, employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, and occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
Must be able to use safe work protocols including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Moderate to heavy physical activity; regularly required to stand, use hands, and reach with hands and arms; required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; may be required to sometimes sit, climb, or balance.
Able to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures.
The noise level is moderate to loud.
