Together, we will become the world's leading cancer reference laboratory.Position Summary:The Transport Specialist will perform daily activities of making assigned specimen pickups per established departmental guidelines for the logistics department. This is the entry level in theLogisticsjob category and employees perform the full range of procedures related to the delivery of all supplies, reports and related materials to the route customer as requested.Core Responsibilities:Drives a vehicle topick-up, deliver, and properly store specimens and other materials with assigned route or on as needed basisDemonstrates and promotes a positive image and communicates effectively to clients, employees and the public in generalPerform route audits and quality assurance checks of samplesMaintain knowledge of multiple routes to back up assigned driversCommunicates appropriately with clients, coworkersand timegeneral publicEnsures all specimens are collected accurately and on timeMaintains required records and documentation of all items received and deliveredReports on time to work, following attendance guidelinesKeeps vehicle area neat and clean; Disposes of biohazard containers when scheduledService vehicles driven, such as checking fluid levels and replenishing fuel; retains and submits all fuel receipts and fuel maintenance logs to the Logistics Supervisor or lead on a weekly basisAdheres to departmental and company code of grooming and uniform policies,appearing neat and clean at all timesAssists Accessioning with incoming specimens throughout the dayOther duties as assigned by Logistics Manager or Logistics Supervisor/LeadEducation, Experience and QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent1+ years previous driving experience preferred. Prior medical courier experience and prior customer service experience preferred.Ability to read a mapAbility to read and write EnglishValid state driver’s license with clean driving recordAbility, on a consistent basis, to sit during shift, excluding meal and rest periodAbility to move and lift 50 pounds and maneuver packages of any weight above 50 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another personGood customer service skills requiredComputer proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel desiredMust be able to work in a biohazard environment and comply with safety policies and standards outlined in the Safety Manual
