We are seeking a highly motivated and technically strong Application Engineer to play a strategic technical role expanding and supporting the adoption of Narda Safety Test Solutions (Narda STS) product lines throughout the United States. Narda STS, based in Germany, is a global leader in RF test & measurement, EMF safety, spectrum monitoring, interference hunting, and EMC/EMI analysis.
This position focuses on expanding Narda’s presence across key U.S. markets, including military and defense, government agencies, aerospace, telecommunications, and industrial customers. In this role you will act as the technical authority for Narda products in the U.S., providing end-to-end support, from pre-sales consulting and product demonstrations to application development and post-sales assistance.
A critical part of this role includes collaborative technical engagement and brainstorming with customers, including military program offices, system integrators, and field engineers, to help identify mission requirements, design technical use cases, and propose innovative solutions using Narda STS equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Customer & Applications Engineering
- Serve as the primary technical expert for Narda STS equipment including EMF meters, spectrum analyzers, RF interference detectors, RF direction finders, and spectrum monitoring systems.
- Conduct product demonstrations for commercial, government, and U.S. military customers (onsite, virtual, and at trade shows).
- Work with customers to design test methods, solve operational challenges, and optimize their use of Narda products.
- Engage in brainstorming sessions with defense and enterprise clients to develop application concepts, system configurations, and mission-specific use cases.
- Provide Tier 1/Tier 2 technical support and coordinate with engineering teams in Germany for advanced issues.
- Create and deliver training, application notes, usage guides, and technical presentations.
Sales Engineering & Business Development
- Support sales initiatives by identifying customer needs and recommending the proper Narda STS solution set.
- Prepare customized proposals, technical quotes, and configuration packages.
- Support federal and military acquisition processes including RFP/RFQ responses.
- Build strong relationships with key accounts in the defense, aerospace, telecom, and industrial sectors.
- Participate in field evaluations, pilot programs, and product qualification activities with military stakeholders.
Market & Product Insight
- Collect customer feedback to help guide new product features, development, and roadmap discussions with Narda STS headquarters.
- Maintain expertise in RF measurement, EMF regulations, spectrum-monitoring practices, and military-relevant standards.
- Track market trends and competitive products to support strategic planning.
Travel Requirements
- Frequent domestic travel for customer visits, demonstrations, training sessions, field support, and events.
- Occasional travel to Germany for product training and technical alignment with Narda STS teams.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Physics, Communications Engineering, or equivalent technical experience with RF systems.
- 2+ years in RF test & measurement, spectrum analysis, EMC/EMI, or similar technical field.
- Strong understanding of RF concepts (modulation, spectrum behavior, antennas, interference, propagation).
- Proven customer-facing experience in pre-sales engineering, applications support, system integration, or field engineering.
- Ability to lead technical discussions and explain complex concepts clearly.
- Active U.S. Government security clearance preferred; candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government clearance.
Preferred
- Experience supporting U.S. military customers, defense contractors, or federal agencies.
- Experience with Narda STS or comparable RF instrumentation (Keysight, Rohde & Schwarz, Anritsu, Wavecontrol, etc.).
Personal Attributes
- Strong technical curiosity and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable brainstorming technical ideas and application scenarios with customers.
- Self-starter with excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while coordinating across time zones.
Please be aware many of our positions require the ability to obtain a security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens. In addition, applicants who accept a conditional offer of employment may be subject to government security investigation(s) and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
