Basic Purpose

Provides comprehensive and specialized engineering support services for Transmission & Distribution (T&D) facilities, supports engineering staff and ensures the procurements & other engineering deliverables for T&D projects meets timelines, schedules, quality, and budgets for successful execution of projects.


Responsibilities


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinates with engineering personnel for determination of procurement schedules and availability of resources/materials. Ensures activities are performed in accordance with contract, Corporate, and regulatory agency requirements.

Completes engineering support tasks that require specialized knowledge of T&D facilities including but not limited to drawings management support and coordination of delegated engineering tasks of a in coordination with engineering staff.

Facilitates procurement support activities by monitoring tasks, task-owner timelines, and expenditures. Compiles data, tracks, summarizes, and reports results, and develops and/or maintains reference information and databases.

Compiles, organizes, and summarizes procurement data from multiple sources; monitors/tracks processes to ensure their execution within defined parameters.

Provides input and coordinates updating materials cost estimating tools for use in company budgeting procedures such that cash flow requirements are identified.

Performs materials administrator tasks including but not limited to non-stock material delivery coordination, match exceptions, material ordering, tracking, receipt, and documentation (drawings, warranties, corrective actions, and project material disbursements).

Provides service administrator support services including change orders, preparation of scope documents, customer cancellations, creation of standardized services procurement templates.

Provides analysis of supplier proposals, total cost modeling, and recommendation for award in conjunction with business unit.

Analyzes purchase requisitions and determines trends which could potentially lead to improved processes.

Coordinates assigned tasks with the Procurement and Contract Specialists responsible for the sourcing of materials, equipment, and services through the RFP process, including bidding and contract execution.

Prioritizes requisitions to ensure equipment, material and services are obtained in a timely fashion with an emphasis on quality, cost, and availability.

Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes, and regulations applicable to position and company.

Performs related duties as assigned.


Qualifications


Essential Education, Skills, and Environment

Education and Work Experience

Associate degree from an accredited plus 5 years of related work experience with at least four years’ experience performing specialized engineering support tasks for T&D projects.

Candidates that do not possess an associate degree must have a minimum of 7 years of related work experience with at least four years’ experience performing specialized engineering support for T&D projects.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Demonstrated knowledge of:

  • Cost control, budgets, finance, and accounting with technical experiences in cost analysis.
  • Transmission, Substation, Telecommunications Facilities.
  • Online requisitioning purchasing and inventory systems.
  • Business unit material, equipment and service requirements and scope documents.
  • Contract writing and negotiating.

Skills such as:

  • Analytical, interpersonal and communication with company personnel, customers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Multi-tasking, research, analysis, project management, problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Oral and written communication.
  • Problem solving and interpersonal.
  • Working as a member in a team-oriented environment.

Equipment and Applications
PCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment plus light field work on active construction sites. No special physical demands required.
