This role assists with workflow design and automation surrounding benefits related accounting, financial analysis, and data analytics, while also supporting retirement plan administration and vendor oversight. The analyst partners closely with Benefits Operations, Payroll, IT, Corporate Finance, third party administrators, recordkeepers, and external auditors to help analyze trends to support the business, ensure accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls, and execute continuous process improvement.

This position reports directly to the Senior Director, Financial Benefits. The role works closely with:

- Corporate Systems and HRIS implementation teams
- Store, regional, and field management
- Third‑party administrators, recordkeepers, vendors, and external auditors
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop tools to enhance automation of monthly financial statements, budget comparisons and trend analysis for the Total Rewards Department for leadership’s presentation to Chief HR Officer and Chief Financial Officer.
- Review reserve estimates, develop accruals, and document accounting transactions.
- Review third‑party administrator reports to support vendor payments.
- Assist in annual budget preparation and provide monthly variance analysis and operating reports to management.
- Track compliance developments and legislative changes impacting benefits accounting and reporting.
- Working with third party administrators, IT, Corporate Accounting and Payroll, review, analyze, and reconcile health and welfare benefits, 401(k) Plan, Deferred Compensation Plan (DCP), and Health Savings Account (HSA) financial activity.
- Create financial models to evaluate benefits trends and cost‑mitigation opportunities.
- Communicate analytical findings, trends, and recommendations effectively to leadership.
- Support Form 5500 preparation, annual audits, and related regulatory filings.
- Answer inquiries from store stakeholders regarding financial benefits.
- Serve as a subject matter resource on retirement benefits.
- Support Affordable Care Act (ACA) reporting analysis and liability assessment.
- Assist with special projects and cross‑functional initiatives within the Total Rewards Department.
- Interact with internal teams and vendors in a manner consistent with AutoNation’s Vision, Mission, and Values.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree and 2-5+ years progressive experience in Accounting, Data Analytics, or Financial Analysis.
- Strong technical financial knowledge and analytical problem‑solving skills.
- Experience integrating AI tools into business processes, preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, Tableau or Power BI experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with vendors, preferred
- Detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
