The R&D Engineer will be responsible for developing and improving products, processes, and materials to support new product development, manufacturing efficiency, quality, and innovation. This role bridges design and production, ensuring new ideas are viable for large-scale manufacturing while meeting safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, prototype, and test new products or components based on market and customer requirements.
- Lead and support R&D projects from concept through commercialization.
- Develop and refine manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Quality, Procurement, and Marketing.
- Analyze production data to identify trends, defects, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Evaluate materials and components for performance, cost, and manufacturability.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for design and process issues.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation, reports, and presentations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety, environmental, and industry regulations.
- Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or related field, with a minimum of 5-7 years of prior related experience.
- 3-5 years in R&D, product development, or process engineering in a manufacturing environment.
- Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing methods (e.g., machining, molding, casting, assembly).
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) and engineering simulation tools.
- Experience with statistical analysis and DOE (Design of Experiments) is a plus.
- Familiarity with ISO, Six Sigma, or Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Certifications in project management, change management, or related fields.
- Knowledgeable of the Principles of Quality Management, Design for Manufacturing, Six Sigma and DMAIC, and Operational Excellence/CI.
- Travel: ~25%, possibly infrequent international travel
- Work Environment: Office work environment in a manufacturing facility, with occasional visits to the corporate office
